Made it to St.FX, safe and sound. Classes are going well, and the girls on my all girls floor are not as annoying as I was expecting. My residence is really old and apparently
This is an excerpt I found on the res life website.
"Mount Saint Bernard or MSB was not always, as it is today. MSB was once a college for young women and only women. The Sisters of the Congregation of Notre Dame of Montreal were asked to staff a school for young women. This St. Bernard's Academy became affiliated with the university in 1894 as Mount Saint Bernard College. In 1897 St. Francis Xavier became the first Catholic coeducational university in North America to grant degrees to women. Members of the Congregation joined the faculty in later years. Women represented a small fraction of the student body for more than 100 years, but by 1985, they equaled men in numbers. Up until the year 2001, the Mount was still run by the sisters and only girls lived there. However, in 2001, the university bought the college, making it the largest dormitory on campus housing both men and women, and giving it a more livlier feel, as the Mull River Shuffle (the unofficial song of MSB) echos through the halls.
Of course, the Mount comes equipped with some paranormal history. The story is that a nun haunts the fourth floor of Gilmora. One account claims that this young nun was raped by a priest and later found to be pregnant. Ashamed and humiliated, the young girl jumped from the fourth floor balcony. The priest who committed the crime against her was overcome with grief and is said to have hanged himself in the basement of the Mount. Some reports claim that the nun just fell off the balcony... but how could you just fall off a balcony. However the death came about, the Blue Nun, as she is known, haunts the fourth floor; she wanders the hall and enters the room. If your room is unkempt and your chair not pushed into your desk, the nun will sit in your chair and watch you sleep. Others claim that she sits atop of your chest making breathing a difficult job. The priest we are unsure of, but accounts claim that a man haunts the spiral staircase of Gilmora and watches as you ascend and descend.
Gilmora isn’t the only part haunted; all through the Mount objects will move around, the elevators move with no one inside, voices linger in the halls and bathrooms, the toilets flush when nobody is there and shadows pace around.
There is also an account, although no one knows for sure, that an exorcism occurred in the Mount somewhere, some claim Camden, but who knows. Nevertheless, stories have been told that shrill screams of agony echo though the halls still to this day."
. Which I think is kind of cool...
Actually, my new friend Emma has a labtop that keeps turning on at night. So we were joking yesterday that one day she is going to try and log into facebook, but instead of her e-mail address in the little box, it will say bluenun@hotmail.com
My sister is pregnant and her due date was yesterday, so it could be any day now! I can't wait. I love babies.
And... metric is playing on Saturday. SWEET!
That is all.
