Pairings - Sakumiya, Juntoshi

Nino sighed heavily. His heart was heavier than any heavy object one could think of every single time he takes a glimpse at the dog collar around his ankle. It’s only been two days but he’s desperate enough to just rip it off for the bell is just a little too annoying for comfort. Putting aside going out for missions, just walking around the house or even just taking a little tiny step and the whole house will echo with a ‘ring ding dong’. Nino then took a glace over at the lazy bunny lying so comfortably on the couch beside him. The assassin narrowed his eyes dangerously as he stared at the ribbon bow tie on Bambi’s neck. He’d rather wear that ridiculous girly thing on his neck than that noisily annoying dog collar. Many times has Nino tried to assassinate Sho’s bunny for that ribbon but was held back at the very last minute due to the ‘ring ding dong’ from the bell. He wanted the noise to just disappear!
“Tadaima~” Sho said cheerfully as soon as the door clicked open. Unlike the depressed looking Nino, Sho has been feeling happy like a child who just achieved 100% for his pop quiz for the past two days. Every single time Nino made a move, even if it was the slightest movement, the bell would help him identify Nino’s position based on the loudness of the ringing. He was completely relaxed.
Sho frowned to the silence. Why did Nino not run to him and greet him like he usually would when he returned.
“Tadaima~~ Nino~ Ni~no~~” Sho called out, louder than the previous calling as he’s beginning to feel uncomfortable all over; worried.
“O.ka.e.ri…”
Sho sighed in relief when he finally heard his pet’s respond; Nino’ still here. His worries now forgotten, he then noticed that his human pet looked weird compared to the previous Nino he knew. He’s completely in his own world, staring into space with a blank innocent look. Sho couldn’t help but chuckle. His pet is now… a little doll like.
“Nino, what’s wrong?”
“Dinner’s ready. Eat it anytime you want. If it’s gotten cold then just heat it up a bit with the microwave.” Nino replied coldly.
Sho was struggling to remove his tie as he casually asked “What’s wrong Nino, you’re acting all weird today?” Nino remained silent in which Sho rolled his eyes and made his way towards the dining room. When he noticed that Nino did not follow him over, he knew that there was something going on in his little pet’s mind and it’s not something good.
He took a bowl of rice and filled it with the side dishes Nino has prepared before turning towards the living room.
Nino remained silent but his gaze was fixed at his master as Sho took a seat beside him, holding the bowl of rice in his hand.
“Nino, say ahh~~” Sho wanted to feed Nino but his pet stubbornly looked away in such a calm manner that Sho was slightly hurt.
“I’ll obediently and gladly eat if you grant me permission to remove the collar on my ankle.”
“What?”
Nino stared at Sho with his assassin’s glare but not harsh enough compared to the stare he gave his victims. Even so, Sho was taken aback and was indeed a little scared about it.
“I’ll eat if you’ll allow me to remove the collar.” the stubborn pet looked away again.
Sho narrowed his eyes. Even though he was indeed scared a moment ago, he’s not going to let Nino get away with his bratty attitude.
“I won’t allow it and you, be an obedient pet and eat this”
Nino turned to face his master when he thought he heard something strange, something like a hiss coming from Sho and to his surprise, Sho was wearing a rather scary face; a face that’s not worn often as far as Nino’s concerned. Sho has been smiling gently towards him all this while and the looks on Sho’s face now really did scare even an assassin like Nino.
“Don’t you dare overwhelm me~” Nino gulped down hard as Sho hissed again. “Open your mouth!”
Without a second thought, Nino opened his mouth wide and Sho shoved a spoonful of food in.
Seeing his pet once again, being all obedient, Sho’s face naturally returned to being the nice and gentle idol. This is the very first time he has shown off his anger towards someone as he’s always doing an incredibly good job at being the gentle looking idol. True enough, he love his pet to no extend but he had no choice but to show his real face to show the other who’s the one in charged; the master.
This is also the very first time where Nino, the senseless assassin found himself truly scared of someone. This is when he thought that if Sho had interest in being an assassin, he might be even more successful than how successful he is now.
-----
Accepting the fact that he has to live with the ‘ring ding dong’ for the rest of his life if he wants Sho by his side, Nino has made effort to contact his boss in order to personally request for a break; a very long break in fact.
He needs to train. Training in a sense where the annoying ‘ring ding dong’ would reduce to the very minimum so that his future victims would not notice or at the very least, would not notice his presence before the critical moment.
Nino sighed hard. “THIS IS HARDER THAN KILLING ITSELF~!!!” the young assassin whined not knowing the presence of a certain someone.
“Yo~! What about killing?” he grinned as he approached the guy who’s slumped down on the floor, sulking. “What could probably be so tough that the almighty Ninomiya could not handle?” he just couldn’t help but laugh.
“Oh Shut Up~!”
Nino was surprise with Aiba’s appearance. Only he knew the existence of this place.
“What brings you here?”
Aiba tilted his head to the side a little “I was strolling.” he then gave his signature bright smile blinding Nino with it.
“Strolling?!! In such an area?” yes, this area is not any ordinary area. It’s filled with thugs and delinquents for it’s an area where Nino trained and his presence there is most definitely unknown; until now.
The young assassin sighed once again. Not only has his happy go lucky friend found him when he’s not supposed to be shows how much of a failure he is as an assassin, the fact that the noisy bell is still as noisy with every move he makes made him feel even worse.
“You’re going to grow old fast with all that sighing you know.” Aiba commented, plopping down next to his friend.
“I can’t help it~!” Nino yelled in frustration. “It’s annoying and I can’t do anything about it and it’s killing me from the inside out and I really don’t like it and it’s preventing me from doing things right and my movements are all held back and….”
“woow~ chillex~” Aiba cut in stopping all of Nino’s yapping.
Right~~ He doesn’t know. Nino has not brought up anything about the collar and that freaking annoying bell to Aiba at all. Poor depressed Nino sighed AGAIN~!
“It’s alright. I’m fine. I need to get going. Sho likes it when I greet him as he return.” he managed a small smile, getting up as he tried to minimize his movement but there goes the ringing.
“Lucky bastard~!” he joked and finally realized the collar clinging to Nino’s ankle but kept quiet none the less.
-----
Nino’s not the only one who’s troubled. After that night of intenseness, Sho so very naturally found himself at Jun’s doorstep.
“It’s my only day off~!” Jun whined as soon as he saw Sho’s face.
“It’s also MY only day off that’s why I’m here today~! My schedule is all packed after today, oh poor me~”
“Poor you? POOR ME~!!! It’s only 7am Sho~!” Jun continued his whining.
Sho patiently waited till Jun’s happy with all his whining and finally decided to stop.
“So? I suppose you’re having pet problems again?” the idol’s friend stated, dragging his fingers across his little kitty’s hair.
Sho barely made a complete nod, thoughts being all over the place thinking if it’s really indeed necessary for the collar since Nino really despise it.
“What’s up this time? Didn’t the collar do the trick?” the younger man raised an eyebrow. He was sure that Sho was bouncy happy ever since the idol gave his pet the collar.
Instead of answering, Sho just shook his head.
Jun coughed, startling not only Sho but his beloved Oh-chan as well. Putting aside that his kitty literally growled at him, he succeeded in gaining Sho’s full attention “Just so you know, I can’t read minds.”
The idol sighed “He doesn’t like it.”
“But you like it. It’s all that matter is it not?”
True, Sho likes it, in fact he loves it but thinking into the matter, he did not consider his pet’s feelings when he decided to give him the collar. Putting himself in his little bunny’s place, he wouldn’t like it if someone were to literally force him to put on a collar. He should be proud that his pet is still wearing it despite hating it. He himself would have ripped it off if he disliked a certain thing.
“hoiiii~~~” his train of thoughts crashed hard when he heard Jun calling “earth to Sakurai Sho-chan~” Jun was waving his hand in front of Sho’s face “must you do that every single time we talk about him?”
“Do what? Him? Who him?” Sho asked, looking innocent.
“What am I to do with you… You’re hopeless…” Jun sighed, burying his face into his palms mentally asking someone up there why is he to go through all the agony early in the morning when he could just cuddle off in bed with his Oh-chan.
Right.. because he’s the one who encouraged the man in front of him to get a human pet.. and because the man so happens to be his best buddy.. and also because he simply just can’t leave the man alone.. not when he looks like a complete idiot sitting on his couch spacing away.. and to think he’s supposed to be the great Keio graduate Sakurai Sho-kun the popular idol.
-----
“Tadai-- *ouff*” before he could even finish what he is suppose to say when he return, something or rather, someone flew out of nowhere, crashing straight into him resulting to a hard landing.
“Okaeri Sho-chan~!!” the figure above the idol giggled.
“Ni- Nino?” Sho grunted as he tried to shift his very uncomfortable position “Nino~ mou.. next time when you want to crash into me, can you at least make sure that I land on something soft? It hurtssss~”
The moment where Sho lifted himself up by supporting on his elbows, his nose made direct contact with Nino’s and this is when the idol realize that their distance is way close; too close in fact that he could feel Nino’s strawberry breath on his face; strawberry?
Nino gulped. Looking at Sho… such close distance… not good… not good at all. His big eyes, his soft nose tip, his full lips (most probably very juicy too) made Nino’s heart beat rapidly increase. His heart was beating even faster compared to when he experience his very first gun shot.
They remained in that not so comfortable position until Sho decided to move and… their lips touched! Both parties’ heart was beating at a rate that it could just jump out of their bodies at any moment.
“If you two are going to kiss then just kiss and stand right up. Don’t make your guest stand at the doorstep just to wait for that kiss. It’s rather rude you know.”
Hearing the sudden appearance of a male’s voice, Nino’s instinct made him pull away from Sho immediately. The sight in front of him was a handsome young man standing behind Sho, staring down at them with one of his knees pressing onto Sho’s head.
Nino stumbled to his feet, standing up in order to greet their guest; no… it’s not just guest but guests. There’s more than one as the assassin realize that there’s another man standing behind that handsome looking man, someone shorter and darker.
“What are you doing MatsuJun? Don’t simply push your knee onto my head like that” Sho stood up frowning at his friend. The very moment Nino heard Sho complaining, he quickly massaged his master’s head gently hoping to at least ease the pain.
“I did that out of kindness so the both of you would just kiss and get it over with. Thinking of it too much makes us sick, ne~ Oh-chan?” Oh-chan nodded in agreement.
Both Sho and Nino blushed at what Jun had said. Despite being a Keio graduated for Sho and an undefeatable assassin for Nino, neither knew how to react in such a situation, but they do silently in each of their minds agree that they should kiss as well.
***
“This is my best friend, Matsumoto Jun, and…” Sho frowned at Nino who kept staring at Oh-chan.
“He’s my BELOVED pet, Ohno Satoshi. You can call him Oh-chan” Jun frowned too as he introduced Oh-chan pulling his kitty close to him and away from Nino’s gaze with an expression clearly showing ‘He’s mine’.
“He’s Nino, my… pet” Nino smiled to greet Sho’s friends but that smile soon turned into a frown when the house started to smell like fish.
“Damn it, I’m frying fish!”
Nino ran as if he was running for a marathon into the kitchen swiftly ignoring the funny ringing coming from none other than the collar. As Nino was too caught up with his little fire rescue, he did not notice the three pairs of eyes following his every movement, not until he came walking out of the kitchen with his head hung low. He ignored all of the stares and laid his head on Sho’s shoulder, pouting.
“Failed~ Fishes are all charcoal burnt” Nino said sadly.
Sho smiled at Nino’s pouting cuteness. As Sho’s patting his pet’s head, comforting him about the ruined lunch, Jun was frowning at his friend.
“You let him cook for you?”
“Is that a problem?”
“Uhm, is that a problem?” Nino mimicked his master.
“It’s not a problem. It’s a big problem, Sho-chan. You have to take care of him and not the other way around.”
“No, no, no~ Sho-chan is very busy. He’s tired out enough at work. I should take care of him.”
It was only then that Sho realized. It was always Nino who took good care of him. It was always Nino who did all those house work, from cooking to cleaning to greeting him at the door and he has never done any of that for Nino. He glanced over at Jun who was still frowning as if he was trying to say ‘You’re such a bad master’.
“Jun is busy too but he has never let me do anything…” Oh-chan said suddenly catching everyone’s attention. Jun smiled at his little kitty proudly.
“Really?”
“Cooking, housework, buying me gifts from time to time whenever he thinks I would like something, taking me for a trip every time he’s got a few days off…”
Nino pouted. He’s really jealous now that he has heard what Oh-chan said. Why is it that he’s also a pet but he has nothing not to mention that he’s got to work like a maid and that annoyingly noisy collar really got on his nerves again. Life is so unfair.
“Okay~ since we came here to have lunch but it seems that there’s nothing left for us to eat… we’ll have to get going now, Oh-chan”
Before Jun stepped out, he turned back and saw Sho scooting closer over to the pouting; he grinned.
“Nino won’t remain as a pet for long.”
Jun looked at Oh-chan; surprised, but immediately after that, he nodded with a smile “En~”
***
“Nino~ sorry” the master really felt sorry for his pet.
“There’s no need for apologies… We’re all different are we not?” Nino smiled at Sho. True enough he was jealous at first but he knew what Sho’s job was like and he just couldn’t bring himself to be a spoilt brat that would actually bother Sho.
However, what he had just said moved his master more and more. The idol suddenly held onto his pet’s hands causing Nino to jump a little…
“From now on, I will take real good care of you~!”
Sho wasn’t just words and no actions. The idol really did what he promised. He returned home early almost every single day, helped around with the cooking, the cleaning and also buying games for his pet once in a while. Besides that, he found himself spending more quality time with his pet and just like Jun, he took Nino around for fun during his days off. Sho was doing such a good job that it actually scared Nino. If his master were to be around him 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, how in the world is he going to carry out his jobs? Will he be able to work at all?
Just like the other night when Nino tried to sneak out in order to carry out one of his given missions, Sho went forward and stopped him right in time, taking him into the house.
The very next night, Nino tried to sneak out again using his assassin like fast pace but as soon as he opened the door,
“Where do you want to go?”
Nino sighed heavily while Sho pulled him into the house once again.
The same night maybe about a few hours later when the assassin thought Sho was already sleeping soundly, he slightly opened the door of his bedroom and somehow not to his surprise, he saw Sho standing in front of his room.
“No! Sho-chan~ I won’t go anywhere, okay?”
“This is the third time already and I won’t believe you anymore~” Sho said sternly and Nino struggled. The master pulled Nino into his own room and literally threw Nino onto his bed, lying next to him. Sho then wrapped his arm around Nino’s waist, putting one of his legs over Nino.
The assassin sighed hopelessly. He had to delay his mission again.
***
Finally, Nino could not think of any other way to carry out his mission and it has already been delayed for almost a week. He could not possibly delay it any further so he thought of his last solution.
“Sho-chan, it’s the fireworks festival tonight~! I want to see it~!”
“Okay~ let’s go then…” Sho smiled. Nino grinned as Sho agreed without thinking.
Fireworks are always beautiful and attractive. Sho and Nino stood in the middle of the crowd, looking up at the sky watching the fireworks display. Nino kept his gaze on Sho’s face instead of the fireworks. He waited and waited until the fireworks were shot up high into the sky and when Sho’s attention was completely attracted by the beautiful sight; he left. He needs to and must complete his mission before Sho found out that he had left.
The assassin moved in the shadows surrounded by the sounds of the blasting fireworks. As the bell on his collar rang through the blasting fireworks, he kept on with his pace and made his way towards his target’s mansion; a very huge mansion.
***
The fireworks were much too beautiful and it has been a while since Sho has gone to a festive as such to watch them. He was smiling the whole time during the fireworks display, watching the fireworks explode into the sky~
“Nino-“
The moment Sho turned around to call Nino, his pet was already nowhere to be seen. He frantically looked around but the familiar figure is still out of sight.
“Nino?”
Standing in the middle of the crowd, seeing various faces but none belong to the one he wants to see. Sho’s face became pale and this is when he realized once again that he do not have Nino’s phone number. How is he to find his dear pet in such a situation he’s in now?
***
A man was working in his office when he suddenly heard a knocked on the door.
“Come in”
At first, the man thought it was just his secretary but unfortunately, nothing goes the way one plans. When the door
clicked open, he heard a rather strange sound. The sound from a bell rang across the room and the very moment he raised his head to confirm who his guest was, he found a gun pressed onto his forehead. A guy with an angelic face was grinning at him, kneeling on his desk.
“Sorry, I don’t have time for you~”
The next thing was a gun shoot was heard.
When the guards finally made it into the room, all they could see was that their boss was leaning into his chair lifeless. No one else was there besides the little bell echo lingering in the room, just like the sound from hell.
***
Nino ran and ran and ran with all his might hoping that he could make it back to the spot where he last saw Sho in time. When he reached his desired destination, the scene he saw just made his heart clench tightly.
Sho had made himself run all the way towards Nino’s house but Aiba had told him that Nino has not returned since the day he came to take him home. The idol, heart filled with worry ran back towards the place where he last saw Nino hoping that he would see his pet waiting for him but no, Nino’s still nowhere to be seen. He tried calling back home, thinking that maybe his pet was tired and went home without him but when no one picked up; he knew that Nino wasn’t home. He went jogging around the area, desperately paying attention to little sounds hoping that the sound of a bell would be heard but nothing.
Sho was looking around the area like a lost soul. Every single time he thought he heard the sound from a bell; he would dash towards where he thought the source of the sound was from and only to meet with disappointment. Little did Sho know that Nino was actually looking at him from afar and the sight that he was looking at made Nino tear up~ He never knew his existence meant so much to Sho.
Sho was already crying. He has no idea where Nino went and he was feeling so hopeless that that very moment. He was about to fall into the state of depression went he heard a ‘ring ding dong’ approaching towards him. Nino was walking towards him.
“The bell wasn’t here before, I didn’t hear the bell~ where had you been?” the idol asking in between sobs.
“Is the annoying bell really that important?”
“Yeah, because with it, I can feel your existence right beside me… and it’s not annoying~! Where did you go?”
“Is my existence really that important?”
“I don’t know... I just feel that I must find you when you’re not beside me… Where did you go?”
Nino smiled. He shook his head to hide the fact that he was actually crying. He neither has parents or relatives. Aiba was the only one he could depend on and there was no one who actually cared about his existence. He has never expected nor has he even thought about the day where someone would actually be worried for him without knowing the reason for it.
“I went to get myself an ice-cream. I suddenly felt like eating it. You were having so much fun watching the fireworks~ I didn’t want to bother you. I’m sorry~”
“Don’t leave me without leaving a word, okay?” Sho said softly.
Nino nodded. “I won’t leave nor will I remove the bell. I’ll let you feel my existence.” Nino said as he wiped away the tears from Sho’s face. His job as an assassin has gave him experience of witnessing people cry in front of him but none has made his heart melt like it did this time. This made him wonder if he has stopped seeing Sho as his idol but something else…
“AH!” Nino pointed at the sky and Sho’s gaze followed his hand.
At that very moment, the fireworks exploded for the last time. Sho looked back at Nino’s face; he has watched enough of the fireworks. All he wanted to look at now is his pet. Nino was smiling brightly at the beautiful sight making Sho smile along with him and his heart rate increased rapidly. The Keio boy of course realized what that meant.
He liked Nino… a lot.
