I am SO JEALOUS of what seems like a wonderful and relaxing trip. And it is SO beautiful there!
I'm sorry that you're miserable in Korea. Are you thinking of staying in Asia somewhere, or are you considering the US--just not TX? Or some other country??
I think I am a little sad that I never did go teach English somewhere. I thought about it a lot.
I'm not really considering the US at this time. I want to roam more while I'm still young.
And, it's never too late to start teaching English somewhere. You won't make good money unless you are in Korea or Japan. But it can be rewarding if you aren't out in the sticks like me.. if you're in a big city.. you have more fun.
Yeah, I know it's never too late, but I also have a good job that I'm not sure I'd want to give up, two kitties I'd miss horribly, and aging family that it would be very difficult to be so far away from. I'm far now, but I'm still in the same country and only about 7 hours away. The grand plan is to travel whenever I can, but I just can't imagine giving up what I have at this point. *sigh* Hindsight, you know.
wow ... what a trip. i have always wanted to go to thailand. i love anything burmese (spelling?) ... did you see lots of kalagas? It looks so amazing and BEAUTIFUL!
i so understand what you feel about going back to korea. after some of the trips back south i feel so completely deflated to come back to chicago ... especially after the winter break. coming back here is so cold and desolate. utterly depressing. i think i really am a sun worshiper. its been much better this year, but i think it really does take a while to get used to that much of a change. im not saying that you should stay there, it seems to me a great chance to explore this amazing planet of ours. i want to chance to do the same. i think about you often ... im still trying to catch the right chance of time zone sync to call you. i hope that your next semester is fruitful. take care and stay warm! <3
I just scared everyone in my office laughing so hard at your bath fuck story. thats fantastic. Im coming to japan for vacation end of march, you should so take the ferry and we can be "big gays" together.
>Perhaps one of the most beautiful things about Thailand was the absence of christianity. There was such peace and openness. Instead of closed up, groupie churches.. there were open areas of peace, giant buddhas to reflect upon. I felt touched in the soul every time I saw a temple. It was so graceful, no chest-puffing or self-righteousness.. just thinking

hmm.. I don't feel that you should be offended. It was more a blanket statement about an institution. The closed up feeling of churches is a reflection on the rejection they practice. Not saying christians are bad, per se. It's just an institution that has been forced into my life in every way due to the area of the world I grew up in. I really enjoyed to have that force lessened, it felt magical
