[Holmes is out and about, walking through the city streets and plucking up the occasional interesting photograph from the ground.]

This is a peculiar curse, isn't it? Though from what I have heard, it is not an original one. It is now that I find myself thankful that I have never done anything which, if seen, would bring me to utter disgrace.

He is a good man. How do you know him?

How long ago was this?

Have you ever held a revolver to a man's head?

I can recall an occasion or two when it was necessary.

Ginger guy, mostly bald on top, mustache, looks like maybe he could be called Winfield or something similar?

Ah. I have met several men of that description, Mr. Thaddeus Sholto, Mr. Jabez Wilson, and Mr. Abe Slaney. The latter is the only one I have greeted in such a dramatic fashion.

Sherlock Holmes, truly? Another famous one.

I hadn't realized what reputation I had in London would precede me in the City.

[Rip can't help but to be amused. One Jack the Ripper, one Sherlock Holmes - what an interesting month! Perhaps part of a theme?]

Not everyone famous back home is famous here, too, but you do seem widely known, Mister Holmes.

However, I doubt blackmail will be such an issue. The City has a habbit of revealing everything one would like to hide away regardless, which makes blackmail rather unnecessary in most cases, yes?

It does seem that way, although I have experienced conflicting testimonies.

Oh no no, it is much more complicated than that. Who is to know what will be revealed, and when? These curses are elusive, and as long as there is fear and uncertainty, there will be those that will try to extort it for personal gain.

I should be able to deal with things tolerably well on my own, but I'll keep the option in mind all the same.

It is my hope that you will not have any problem at all, but should one arise, I would encourage you to consult me.

I would assume that most people are hoping the same, today. It's not very often the City seeks to arm would-be blackmailers.

And yet so many parade these photographs before the network without an ounce of discretion.

The workings of the City are at the moment elusive. Though I would not be entirely surprised if creating blackmailers was the objective of this curse.
