a couple of notes, just as a placeholder for proper entries - you know, detailed and witty and produced at not 4am-headache-o'clock.

• started RIVERS OF LONDON; already charmed. i ordered the entire series published so far, and the first book took the longest to arrive of all 5. the universe is funny and it also wants to remind me what it's like ( Read more... )

RIVERS OF LONDON is in my to read pile. I'm thinking perhaps I should move it to the top.

I can't wait until theatre season starts back up around these parts, you're post only made that worst. *g*

i'm really enjoying them; the narrator has a terrific voice, and the supernatural mysteries are creepy but fun. warmly recommended.

sorry about the theatre brag; i hope it's a fun season! <3

I hadn't heard of Call Me By Your Name until now, but having read those reviews, I'm definitely have to put it on my list to keep an eye out for and/or track down once it goes into wider release.

oohhhh, please check out the book - it is GORGEOUS. very proustian in style, completely enchanting, and thoroughly bittersweet because the love story ends (nicely! but still ends) yet the memory of it is so beautiful and that young age so honestly respected for what it was, with no cynicism nor cloying nostalgia... SIGH.

a few reviews from the festival mentioned late summer for release so it might be quite a wait. i'm trying not to jump out of my own skin about it ;)

the rivers of london books are so good, aren't they? i think whispers under ground and broken homes are my favorites, but they're all so fun and fascinating. and peter grant's london is such a fabulously diverse and exciting (and occasionally creepy) place.

did you get to go to battery park?

i love his voice! and i love his london. there's a festivid of constructed reality for the series, btw - and honestly, i hope there's fic as well! :)

i spent most of today in bed with the blackout curtains drawn, so there was no marching for me. it's a relief to see how many people showed up, though. and i hope it becomes a regular thing; protest takes practice. *clings to hope*

Free tickets to experimental theatre sounds wonderful - I wish I lived near you. Except that I would be in the USA ...
