It's early when Jeannette wakes up, even for her. All the same, she can't seem to fall back asleep and reading doesn't help either. Giving up, she huffs as she grabs Little Sevvie and tucks him under her arm. House and Foreman are probably still asleep, especially on a Saturday. House wakes suddenly at a sound from the kitchen. Foreman is still asleep (obviously, since they're somehow tangled together again), which leaves two possibilities. Either they have a hungry burglar, or Jeannette's up and doing something in the kitchen.

It doesn't take long to pull on clothes and creep out to the kitchen, hand tight around his cane in the unlikely event that it's the former. But no, it's Jeannette, at the stove. Which she's been explicitly told she's not allowed to use without permission.

Uh-oh.

"Daddy!" Jeannette complains, giving a loud sigh. "It's not a surprise if you watch and know. Go away, you're not supposed to come here until later!"

House ignores that entirely. "What's the rule about using the stove, Jeannette?" he asks, tone firmer than he can remember ever using with her."

Okay, make that a big 'uh-oh'.

Jeannette, frozen on the chair, gets out, "I'm not supposed to unless you or Papa are in the room. But it's a surprise, this time. It's eggs!"
