Out of curiousity...

In response to the current business decision of LiveJournal, Inc., to remove any new creation of basic accounts, I decided to investigate the relation of features against advertising. As the features we have available to us on LJ - scrapbook, voice posts, etc. - seem to be what requires more investment, I have contemplated what the backlash would ( Read more... )

According to [info]brad, we Paid Accounts covered enough to run the site, enough revenue to grow the site, and paid for employee salaries.

I think he meant: When I started LiveJournal, paid accounts covered enough to run the site. When plus accounts - then called sponsored + - were introduced, I remember him saying ads were necessary because the site was growing and paid users weren't enough anymore.
