CAPTCHA turned on for non-members

Jul 13, 2008 13:31

We've had lots of comments from spam bots so I had to enable human tests for comments from users who are not members of no_lj_ads.
Sorry about that. Let's hope I can turn it off soon.

Please report any suspicious comment so that I can ban and report them if they're bots.

I just tried logging out of LJ, and see no way to comment on the post at all while logged out.

Here's how I did it with a test account:

Go to http://community.livejournal.com/no_lj_ads/82105.html
Click on 'Post a new comment'.
Select 'LiveJournal user'.
Enter your username and password.
click on 'Post Comment'.
Pass the human test. (and possibly enter your password again)
Click on 'Post Comment' again.

OK, I misunderstood. I was thinking people who'd left LJ entirely, not just people who weren't in the community. I'm a space cadet.

Sometimes they're incomprehensible for those of us who can see normally, too. I recently had to solve one on suggestions, even while I was logged in, and I had to ask it for another test because the first one was completely garbled and obscured by the noise generation scheme.

Incidentally, I've tried many times to solve the CAPTCHA using the audio version, and I find it hard as hell. I've only managed to do it once out of eight or nine tries. :(
