Changes are coming

Over in ruljautonews we have a translation of igrick's latest entry where he details some upcoming changes to advertising on LJ. Specifically, a modified form of the self-promo block that's already available on the Cyrillic homepage will be made available to all journal owners, with all proceeds from that block going to the journal owner. If a user has to choose to show that ad, that's less of an issue. I'll just defriend that user, problem solved.

I feel the same way and plan to do this also. This includes the communities also, because of the intrusion of ads on my friends list reading would be interfered with.

I don't think the ads would show up on your friends list, just the entries or other pages of the community/journal.

This whole site is declining in what I use it for. I do not like ads and never have. I come to the point now where my journal is a back up for dreamwidth. I am just a person that has a few friends and likes to journal. I realize SUP does not care especially for American users, so the news that perm users will be forced to view this is upsetting but what this place is turning into it does not surprise me one bit.

I am thankful for journal sites that are American and cares about it's base.
