I feel so sad sometimes, listening to them interact after having gained this perspective, for the millionth time, but now, finally, with full-on acceptance - it makes me feel so sad to listen to them talking to one another. They're their only friends, and they get together for little more than to fool each other into believing that they're happy,

Adults caught in the emotional brains of 2, 3, 4 year-olds are very sad. But they don't know that and their way of surviving is at others' expense. We can be sad for them, but we must protect ourselves first.

Is there no way you could move Richie? It would make such a difference to you I'd imagine.
