Really, really creepy...

So I just read the DaVinci Code the other day, and I really liked it. Today I was cleaning up some papers I had about my Mexico trip, and I found one paper I had printed off the internet about Toshi, the small village I am going to. Much to my surprise, it says "Opus Dei: Finding God in Work and Daily Life" across the top ( Read more... )

Im almost afraid to open my mouth on this one, because i havent actually read the whole book, but from exerpts that i have read and the knowledge that i have obtained from reading about it, i have gathered that the Davinci Code is a big, very well put together fairytale, comprised of interesting stories that where carefully crafted together in Mr.Brown's head to put doubt in your mind from what the real truth is. I guess it worked out for him, cause he made tons of money from it, but, the few stories that i have read from that book, are definatly entertaining, but hold absolutly no biblical truths whatsoever. To me, its kinda like a Farenheit 9/11 in book form. Lots of flash and dash, no substance when it comes down to it. Jesus was married to Mary Magdelene?? suuuuuurrree. It definatly has some pretty entertaining stories in it though.

by the way, im glad you came on sunday scrimp!

Yes, The DaVinci Code is a lot of facts probably taken out of context so that it sounds convincing when in reality it's not true...much like Michael Moore stuff. BUT the Opus Dei is true stuff. Exaggerated maybe but everything in the book is what they believe in and some of them practice. I went to the Opus Dei website and read what they think about the DaVinci Code and I found myself believing the book over their website...about the Opus Dei not the Jesus part. They seem really, really sketchy. My friend, Laura, who is an extremely Devout Catholic, said that the main thing she knows about them is that they are really, really rich and that they expect the women to pray the Rosary when they are having sex. Yikes. Anyways, I just thought it was really weird. And I hope we can come back to church next Sunday..if Bryan will actually get out of bed...
