All I know about Friends With Benefits (and I LOVE this, plus it ties into your non-predictable Russian story) is that Timberlake and Kunis were promoting the movie in Russia and some Russian journo was slagging them off, not realising that Kunis could understand every word. Nice story. :)

I kind of hoped that maybe you were wrong about FwB and so looked up the plot. Nope. Exactly in so many ways as one would predict, following all the stereotypes. There is even a father with Alzheimer's.

I grant you there are things that aren't entirely obvious from the poster but dear god the insistance on having a plot leading to hetro-normative life is so fucking boring some days. I suppose if one is to analyse it you would say that the audience has to form an emotional bond to the characters and this is done via going through a standard experience of falling in love, with some twist added so that no one can patent the process and then accuse them of intellectual property theft.
