[February 4th, 2007] You're All I Have...

Feb 04, 2007 19:47

It took a lot to put one past Major James Anthony Riley. It was a fact that Addie had not only gotten used to, but pretty much used as a guideline to her daily routine. He knew when she had done laundry because her hair would smell of a dryer sheet, he knew if she had lunch with Ronon because her tone would be a bit more surly than usual. Jim had ( Read more... )

She was still near tears for the most part even through small bursts of laughter at remarks from John and Ronon. She sniffed a bit trying to make sure she wasn't actually crying to the point of needing a tissue and thankfully she didn't because Jim moved toward her pulling her into a hell of a kiss if she ever knew one. When he pulled away and told her his answer was yes she had to actually laugh, before whispering back, "If it was no? I'd be in a lot of trouble with more than a few people around here ( ... )

Of all the things he was expecting to hear, that was the last thing he was expecting. Grinning, Jim reached out to cradle her face between his hands. "Really? Aedeline Riley? You mean it?"

Laughing, Mike reached out and tapped Jim's shoulder. "Can I cut in and give my sister a hug?"

Jim glanced over his shoulder with a grin. "Fuck you, man...I ain't done necking with her."

"Well, save a couple smooches for the ceremony, Sherlock." John quipped with a nod. "If I recall correctly, that sort of thing's required and all."

"See? Man talks sense." Mike shot back with a grin. "Move."

"Make me."

Without hesitating, Mike reached out and poked Jim's side ticklishly, making him yelp and fly back a step.

"Much better." he grinned, leaning over to wrap Aedeline in a bearhug. "You are a sneaky little minx, you know that? Keepin' secrets from me...nice work, girlie."

Addie chewed on her bottom lip nodding emphatically for a moment about dropping her last name and picking his up. It wasn't even a second thought to her. Her last name hadn't really held the same family meaning to her for a while, and Jim and Mike were more her family these days than anything. It was almost just a formality to get out of the way ( ... )

Addie listened to the sound of her own name, almost foreign to her in that moment. If ever there was a moment when she felt a bit beside herself this was it. This was... a lot, it was everything. Her knee was shaking a bit and she tried to will it to stop but ending up locking it instead, which got it to stop, but she was sure Jim felt the jarring motion of her arm. She was sure though, he didn't have to worry about her running off to become a nun ( ... )

Jim hardly knew what to say...he didn't have anything he'd prepared, and traditional words were so trite...so *lacking ( ... )

Elizabeth listened first to Addie and then to Jim as they spoke their love from their heart and smiled softly.

When they were finished, she took a deep breath and said, "Now that everyone here is as touched as I am by your love, let's continue."

Reaching out, she waited while McKay fumbled for a moment before handing her a flat surface that had the traditional solemnization of vows from Earth on them. Turning to Addie first, she spoke gently, smiling at her.

"Addie," she said firmly, "Do you take Jim to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and health, to love and honor, in good times and bad, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself solely unto him for as long as you both shall live?"

If she hadn't been near tears during her own profession Jim's words would have done her in. She couldn't help the smile on her face, nor the tears that were trying their best to not fall across her cheeks. The words that Elizabeth was saying seemed so less important all of a sudden, despite the fact that this was the actual part that made it all official. Her mind raced to all the times she had seen The Princess Bride and Westley would ask if she had said 'I do' and that if she hadn't then she hadn't married him.

Aedeline made sure that she was looking Jim in the eyes, baring her soul, her heart and showing him all the love she had within her at that moment when she replied, "I do."

Teyla had been honored to be included in Aedeline's ploy to lure Major Riley into an ambush of a wedding. It was quite uncharacteristic of Aedeline to do such a thing, and yet Teyla was more than sure that it was simply the Major's influence rubbing off on her. Still seeing the amount of confusion upon the face of James Riley was well worth having to endure both of the Riley brothers on a mission at the same time. She was only thankful that it was not one that required more of their specific skills, and that all that was required was for them to provide a few answers regarding some equipment that had been traded to the people and then they were headed back to Atlantis ( ... )

"She looks absolutely beautiful," Daniel agreed. "You two did a good job pulling this number on Jim."

He let his eyes wander over the Atlantis scenery, trying not to pout over the fact that as soon as the party was over, it was back to Earth with him. It was nice to be able to take a break like this, with Shan, away from Woody everything that seemed to nag at them back home.

Just two old friends having a good time. At a surprise wedding. In another galaxy. No one said it was conventional.

"This story's going to be told for a long time coming."

Teyla nodded smiling in earnest at hearing how Shannon had helped Aedeline pull off such a task, "I admire your determination, it is one thing to keep Aedeline from telling Jim, it has been proven quite another to keep Major Riley from finding it out on his own ( ... )
