[February 4th, 2007] This is a start that I know I'll believe in...

Feb 04, 2007 20:35

Addie had gotten married to Jim, and vice versa was true as well. They had been married officially since twenty-hundred hours, and Addie knew that it was just the start. She also knew that if she had to keep smiling so wide that her jaw was either going to lock in place, her cheeks were going to cramp, or she was going to just be stuck that way ( Read more... )

Agatha walked into the commissary, expecting it to be relatively empty like it usually was this time of day. Much to her surprise, it definitely wasn't. Her eyes went wide at the crowd that had gathered there, and she finally had the chance to use a new phrase she'd picked up from one of the guards.

"Holy crap."

Some of the faces she recognized, some she didn't. But she did know that something was going on, and she'd missed the memo. Which, this time? She was okay with.

Just as quickly as she'd entered, she turned on her heel to walk out.

Carson managed to grab Agatha before she could leave.

"Agatha, lass!" he said with a grin. "Ye're not leavin' so early, are ye? The party's just gettin' started. Didn't ye here? Addie surprised Jim with a weddin'!"

He pointed her focus toward the happy couple making the rounds.

"It's just so beautiful, innit?" he sighed happily. "Ye have to stay to congratulate them! A party's just what ye need!"

Teyla spotted Agatha enter the commissary as well as the wide eyed response that she was sure their gathering would have caused anyone. The hesitation was there for a moment before Teyla saw her turn away ( ... )

Agatha was still overwhelmed by the whole situation.

"There's just so many people here," she said, looking around the room again. "But I suppose it might be nice to stay. For a bit."

She still wasn't entirely sure about what was going on. Something about a "weddin" - whatever that was - and a union between the happy couple in the middle of the crowd. The idea seemed somehow foreign to her, even though she was sure her village must have had occasions like this as well.

Smiling, she relaxed a little bit as she started adjusting to the noise. This would be fun. She hoped.

Daniel followed the crowd to the commissary, Shannon still on his arm. He hoped, for their sake - and his - that there was jell-o. Or at the very least, cake. Otherwise, he was afraid of what a pregnant Shannon might do. Not that he'd let her, of course, but he knew she'd try something.

"This is going to be some reception," he said, still greatly amused by the whole situation. "Mitchell's going to be mad he missed it."

"You're lucky you've actually been able to spend a lot of time here."

Daniel wasn't jealous. Really. With a sigh, he looked at her smiled.

"You're going to crazy in retirement, aren't you?" he teased.

Heira was unsure why she had been asked to come into Atlantis. She had been there only on a few occasions before, and it was usually under times of duress. It would not appear that there was anything of that nature occurring. Still she allows herself to be brought into the city and she smiled warmly when Aedeline approached her to explain what was going on. Aedeline while she was not fully aware of what the nature of her relationship with Mike was, knew that Heira had been friends with both of the Riley brothers and that they would want as many of their friends there as possible ( ... )

Mike had already made the arrangements with Weir in preparation for the day Jim actually did propose, she'd just been waiting on him. All it took was a tap on the shoulder and a nod to let her know he was ready. Which was good...given that Jim was going to be needing an open bed *immediately ( ... )

Heira smiled laughing lightly at the somewhat awkward approach that Mike seemed to be experiencing, "I was invited, along with a few other of the people of my village. I believe they are the louder group over there speaking with Ronon." She had been with them for a while, but knew that most of the men wished to speak with others about things that were not how lovely the service was, so Heira was left to her own thoughts until Mike had come up to her.

"It was quite an evening, and your brother looks truly happy, as does Aedeline. They are very lucky to have found the love that they have for each other." Heira is trying to hide her own blushing, because she does realize that he has been looking at her a bit harder than he usually does. She is merely thinking that it is the circumstances though, for everyone around them is thinking of happier thoughts.

Mike nodded, stealing a look at Jim and Addie with a grin. "Yeah...I just think it's funny that I'm the only man in Atlantis that don't think this is surprising, Jim getting himself settled down and all." Glancing back at her, Heira's curious look made him shrug with a sheepish smile. "Jim may have a wild streak, but he's always been the one who wanted the wife and kids and house with a white picket fence...sorry. Human ideal of a perfect family life." he added in explanation. "That's just...never been me."

Mike paused, his gaze drawn to her face for a moment as he pictured it...maybe not the white picket fence dream, but a time and a place...and a girl. One girl...the only girl, it seemed, at least whenever he went to the mainland...

"Least, it never *was* me." he amended quietly, then had to look away when he felt his cheeks flaming again.

Addie was more than proud of herself that she had managed to pull this off, she was damn near beaming with pride. Her own grin had been plastered onto her face for quite some time now, but she didn't mind that at all. She knew that the smiling she did now, was just making up for all the times growing up when she wasn't ( ... )

Jim grinned, resting his cheek atop her head for a moment as he pretended to consider her question intensely. "Let's see...being married to you is like having really great sex after winning the lottery, acheiving world peace, curing cancer, winning the Nobel peace prize, inheriting a shitload of money, and winning an Oscar all rolled into one ( ... )

Addie knew that she loved him, and even with all the words and the flowing prose that she didn't need to hear, she still knew she was the happiest she had ever been. Her cheeks hurt from smiling and she didn't care, her chest was tight with anticipation and she wasn't going to complain either. This was her life and every twinge of every feeling she felt she wanted to experience... just so she could remember how it felt to be this in love.

Her head rested against his chest letting his arms continue his embrace as they stood there in the middle of all of their friends, where they would have been content to be the only ones in the room. Pulling back she let her hands rest to his chest, glancing up at him, "So I know this is all really fast, but have you and Mike even talked about what would have happened if I ever said yes to one of your proposals?"
