What is the most important value that you would pass on to your children?I don't think this technically counts as a value, but the one thing that I would pass to any child that I would ever have is the ability to listen. These days, and especially in Midgar, when you speak, there aren't usually a whole hell of a lot of people listening; everything ( Read more... )

Thank you; I appreciate the more-than-one-word answers.

Is that why you're so quiet? You're listening?

Why do you think you don't have charisma? So you mean that people underestimate you; mistake you for being all brawn and no brain? If that's true, who's doing the underestimating?

Most of it is that I don't talk unless I have something to say. But yeah, I guess some of it is what you said. I hear more than most people.

I didn't say I don't have charisma; I don't have that certain type of charisma: the flair, the way with words, the fiery personality. Yes, that's basically what I mean. A lot of people; targets, passerby on the streets, my bosses... Even Reno and Tseng forget sometimes, I think, that me being big, quiet, and inclined to follow orders doesn't mean that I don't think for myself.

I don't quite understand where you get your ideas of charisma and leadership from. Charisma doesn't necessarily have to be loud and showy; you could be a quietly charismatic leader. When you say bosses, I'm assuming you mean board members and the president. Would that be correct?

Give me an example of a time when you thought that one of the two of them was undestimating you.

...Never mind.

Yes; I'm primarily talking about board members, since I've only met the president a few times. They don't want us to be traceable to him; if what we do ever comes beyond the realm of urban legend and gossip, the president can claim total innocence.

Sometimes Reno says tiny things about his past that he wouldn't say unless he's sure that I couldn't possibly put it all together. Tseng gets a strange look on his face when the two of us are looking over files or something and Wutai is mentioned, and he never looks like it when Reno's around. He would completely deny it or be embarrassed by it if somebody noticed, and he only looks nostalgic when I'm around, ergo, he thinks I won't see it. Other than that, it's the little things; I think they forget that I'm better read than either of them. I don't know. It's hard to put a finger on it.

What the fuck, man? You think I think you're stupid? Hardly; you made it through elementary and even middle and high school, which makes you a helluva lot better educated than me. I know that you read Yolstot an' all kinds've crazy-ass writers' books. An' besides that, I know that you're fucking ridiculously smart. Don't say that shit.

If you stop to think about it, you'll realize that anything I said about my past was said while I was drunk. What the fuck do you know about it, anyway? Not much.

I know that you had a bg family, I know did something for years that you weren't proud of that kept your family fed, and I know that something happened that makes you yell and scare the shit out of me when you're drunk and sleeping on my couch.
