All of these seems awesome! I have to say I love your desk! Those windows are amazingly tall!

What is that picture your brother painted of? I can't tell from the photograph.

It's a reproduction of a picture I took of the mast/sails when out on the boat one day. Here's the original image:

Oh, wow, that place is gorgeous.

I'm so glad for you both that you managed to get away and spend time together and away from work. That can be such a life saver.

Edited to add:

Also, is it wrong that I am rather curious as to whereabouts in Boston your current place is and what the rent runs? I'm still chasing that rabbit and a studio sounds quite nice if I manage to weasel my way up there to stay.

Allston/Brighton, 1350/mo. (Price includes a 150/mo off-street parking spot, uncovered.)

Boston is not cheap. =/

Hmm, not too far different from the other quotes I've seen, and yeah, I'd gotten that impression when up there in June conducting the whole job hunt thing. It is what it is, though. I'll happily take a higher cost of living if it puts me someplace that has more going on than rural Alabama.

If you can survive roommates, a friend of mine is living in an honest-to-god mansion. There is a tremendous kitchen, huge living areas, he has his own bathroom in his room, and he's only paying 915. And again, we live in a nicer part of Boston, so.
