Douchey Moments in History

Nov 01, 2010 08:34

From now until December 19th, I'm going to be posting various clips featuring Noah at his most douchetastic. I'm going to say right up front here that any one of these instances could probably be dismissed as understandable and forgivable, brought on by the circumstances, and what have you... but eventually that excuse stops working. Nobody is ( Read more... )

As we discussed elsewhere, I, too, originally thought it was cute that he was jealous/possessive of Luke having coffee with that guy, but that was when I thought his douchey behavior was all fear because he was in the closet and that once it passed, he'd stop acting like such a jerk. But, yeah, now that we know it's part of an ongoing pattern in his life of wanting Luke to be on hold for him while he does whatever the hell he wants, it's not so cute anymore.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with all of this. The first time I watched all this, I did kind of think it was cute that Noah was all jealous, but when you see the pattern of his behavior over the years and realize this wasn't just an isolated incident, it stops being cute and becomes just a little sick and creepy.

Even though I was a fan of Nuke, I still thought Noah was being soooo selfish half of the time even the first time I saw this. There were enough 'cute' moments to balance it out.

I recall having a lot of moments of discomfort regarding Noah even back then, but I would just handwave it as being poor acting and not really a character problem. Mainly because I really wanted Luke to have what he wanted and he wanted Noah. I never felt warm and gooey toward Noah. I mainly found him frustrating. I think, all in all, he never won my heart...for, er, obvious reasons.

Yeah, I liked Noah a lot more after he FINALLY admitted the truth and I cut him a lot of slack for his initial behaviour due to his nutjob of a dad. Of course, then whenever something went wrong, the behaviour continued...

There were some moments where I actually thought Noah was coming around and showing his good side, but then they would just do a 360 and Noah was a jerk again.

Yeah, Luke, if you'd stop with your morality, and your honesty, and your putting other people first, and oh, yeah, stop with your gayness, and your hotness, and your making me want you. THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, LUKE!!! WHY WON'T YOU JUST LET ME AND MADDIE BE HAPPY????

"You sat down next to him, or he sat down next to you?"

You've got to marvel at the sheer douchiness of a guy feeling like he's entitled to ask someone to give up going to the college of her dreams for him. I particularly love the fact that Noah ADMITS that he would still be going to Northwestern if it wasn't for his father, but still has the nerve to ask Maddie to give up going to Wesleyan.

Wow.

Pretty mind boggling, isn't it? I mean, I think this would have been a douchey move even if Noah was 100% straight and 100% in love with Maddie, but considering the fact that neither of those things were true, IMO it just makes it douchey X 1000000.

I totally agree with you that more Henry is always a good thing! And I'm really glad that Maddie escaped, too... I only wish Luke had escaped something like two and a half years sooner!
