Don't you just love how it's perfectly okay for Noah to completely fuck up Maddie's life, and when Luke's refusal to lie to her results in Maddie having the chance to un-fuck up her life, LUKE is somehow the bad guy. Noah world is a lot like bizarro land! DOUCHE!!!

Yeah, I know, how DARE Luke try to be all supportive and shit? And you've got to love Noah's personal code when it comes to honesty -- honesty is very, very important to him, and lying is never okay. Unless he wants you to like to the school administration about a teacher hitting on him, or to the government about an illegal alien, or to his unwitting beard. THEN it's not just okay to lie, but you're an asshole if you don't.

GOD, what a douche!!!! How the hell could I have ever shipped Luke/Noah?

It's so interesting to me to rewatch these old scenes and look at them in a whole new light. As we've discussed, at the time I was so desperate for a gay ship that beggars couldn't be choosers! So I cut Noah a ton of slack and made many excuses for him. But it's interesting to me to look back and see how quickly I cooled on Nuke from a fandom obsession standpoint. I started watching the summer Noah appeared, and I only wrote six Nuke fics, the last of which was in the following January. I still watched, but Luke and Reid has been SO much more consuming than Nuke ever were.

Lily: You really like him, don't you?

Luke: Well, I mean, I've liked other guys, but I've never had anyone feel that way for me.

What a telling line. I really do think that Luke's attraction to Noah was definitely in part because Noah was attracted to him, and because Luke didn't think anyone else would want him. That's why he was so amazed later that Reid was interested in him, and so flattered

It really is! I mean, I never loved, loved, loved Noah like I always have with Luke, but I *liked* him and I wanted him and Luke together, and now I'm rewatching these clips, and it's just so obvious that I overlooked a lot of ABUSIVE behavior -- BAD ME, the way I was willing to throw Luke to the wolves just because I wanted a gay couple on my TV screen!!!

I really do think that Luke's attraction to Noah was definitely in part because Noah was attracted to him, and because Luke didn't think anyone else would want him.Oh, I definitely think so. I haven't found it yet, but right now I'm looking through some of the pre-Noah clips, because I'm like 99.99% sure there was a scene at one point where Jade was telling Luke about all the hot guys who were going to want him, and Luke insisted that there wasn't anyone like that. He has just always had such low self esteem, and
