Douchey Moments in History -- Interlude

Nov 15, 2010 09:47

Welcome to another edition of Douchey Moments in History! I'm calling this edition an "Interlude", because these clips don't actually feature Noah acting like a douche (although, if you really need a douche fix, you can watch Holden being a douche to Lily). In fact, what these clips mainly feature is Luke having a hard time with his paralysis and ( Read more... )

So, lets play what would have Reid done if he was in Noah's shoes for a moment. First, he probably would have told Luke that he was being an ass and that he should take help when it's offered to him. And Luke would have argued with him for a while but then he would be worn down by Reid and his awesomeness. Then they would kiss and make up and everything would be good. Reid would have helped Luke through it at every turn even when Luke would be pushing him away. It's true that the Reid we know might have backed off a bit and said that the only one Luke was hurting was himself and then he'd come back later. That's the difference though. Reid would have always come back to Luke and helped him. Noah just left him alone and felt sorry for himself. What a douche you are Noah.

Well, Reid wouldn't need to have someone tell him that Luke really needed him during that time.

Anytime that Luke had an issue or problem, the writers always had someone else TELLING Noah that he needed to "be there" for Luke. If it wasn't Lily, it was Maddie, or Casey or Allison.

Wow, I used to really like the Noah character. OMG, the writers totally screwed how I used to view him, because of their crappy writing for that character.

First off, don't apologize for your post. I'm glad that folks are letting all their bottled up frustrations out.

I go on VH a lot, and with Nuke fans (not all of them, only a select vocal few), I find it isn't about the couple anymore. They wanted Nuke to be together SO badly because for three years, like I did, they were waiting for the problems to be fixed and everything to be okay. It was three years waiting for a couple that were just never really working out. Just like all the times Nuke had a happy moment and I thought, "Well, I'll forget the problems. Look how cute they are!". THEY wanted them together - not because they were right for each other, but because the fans have waited so long. So they yell and vocalize and stamp their feet and blame the writers and producers for Noah's issues and the story lines, because despite everything that's happened, it's not Nuke's fault or differing personalities that makes them not work. It's the writers fault. It always comes back to the writers.Exactly. I can remember when I was one of ( ... )

Way late to the party, but -

One more thing is, remember how Noah insisted that being blind had changed him but that when Luke was in the wheelchair "you were still you"?

Ugh, I rolled my eyes so hard when he said that. Noah's playing the disability olympics and it's such a douchey move even beyond the fact that it's a crappy thing to say to your boyfriend - so what, Noah, being in a wheelchair isn't so bad, but being blind, well, life as you know it is over? There's no reason to ever play "my disability is way worse than yours!" especially not when to do so effectively comes out sounding like justification for treating Luke like crap and like Luke had no reason to be upset about being paralyzed.

Ugh, seriously. Noah just never understood how to take responsibility. He never owned his issues. Never apologized. Always made excuses for himself, usually vague ones that consisted of, "That was different", or "You just don't understand", or whatever, which essentially boiled down to, "Yeah, but that time I wanted it" or, "Yeah, but this time it's me," etc, etc. He's just such a douche. UGH.

Hahahah. The above is what I would have said in response to your previous posting to Greek_09 about Douchey Reid vs. Douchey Noah.

When Reid's being a douche, it's in response to who he thought Luke wanted to be with at those times (which usually meant, is he still hung up on Noah).

In regards to Noah being a Douche, it's always about what he wanted AND how he wanted his relationship to go with Luke.

That's so very true. I also think that Reid, unlike Noah, apologized, or at least admitted wrongness, if not explicitly, then implicitly. I do wish we'd gotten some kind of resolution scene over that "You wanted to go slow? You got your wish," b.s.. I'd like have seen Reid acknowledge that it was a bitchtastic thing to say. I'm sure he would have, though, because, unlike Noah, Reid doesn't make excuses for himself.

I think you're right about that.

Rewatching the clips:

"You don't think I could help do you? I mean, I'm not exactly in the best shape myself right now."

UGH. NOAH. UGH. ALL ABOUT YOU. HATE HATE HATE.

uuuugh. i can't even compare luke paralysis to noah's blindness.
because it INFURIATES ME.

noah's comments about "you were still you!" is bullshit.
and pushing luke away was crap.
just.. it was all so fucking hypocritical. i can't even.

because yes. you can totally compare and decide which is worse; being

paralyzed to where you can never walk again, can't even go to the bathroom on your own, can't have sex.

or

being blind (especially as a film maker), never seeing the world, your boyfriend's face, being able to make movies.

guess what?!
BOTH FUCKING SUCK AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY.
i felt for noah. i really did.
at first.
and then, BAM.
douchefest.
ugh.

Can I mention that, at least for the November 6 part, the intro says "luke & noah, a love story" but at least three of clips were of them arguing.
