The Last Samurai

What a wonderful meditation on bushido and the ancient Japanese ways versus the invasion of Western forces. What a great story of a man discovering real meaning where he was missing a set of values he could believe in. A great film? Not by any stretch. But a great experience.

Now, I want to learn how to swordfight. :-)

Pretty cinematography, too.

Now, have you ever seen "Ghost Dog"? Because I feel it addresses the same themes in a much better and less stupid-Hollywood way.

No, I never did. I didn't hear very good things about it. And yeah, The Last Samurai is a Hollywood flick, which is what makes it not such a great film. But is Ghost Dog really worth watching?

I felt it was, yes. More so than "Last Samurai", even.
