Ordinarily that would do it--but no, no drinking. I'm confused.
The only other hypothesis I can go on is the following: The alarm did in fact sound at the proscribed time. I, completely and totally unconscious, turned it off--and then TURNED IT BACK ON, and laid back down in bed.
That explanation doesn't sit well with me, though. Primarily because, whenever the alarm clock sounds and I turn it off, afterward I always have a hazy-yet-existent memory of that happening. Not so, this morning.
I maintain my first theory: the elves've mastered the technology of time manipulation--and I'm their human guinea pig.
