that's William Hurt, not John Hurt...

John Hurt was the Elephant Man, the old racist in The Proposition, the lead in 1984, and the Big-Brother-ish fascist in V for Vendetta.

As for Opera... it was the first Argento film I really opened up to. I'm still not completely sold on the ending, but the bits in it that really work for me... well.. they really work.

Profondo Rosso and Tenebrae are both worth checking out if you haven't seen them yet... I kind of prefer his giallos to his supernatural films - although Suspiria can be a brilliant experience if I'd had enough absinthe... the colors in that one are stunning.

Suspiria is pretty to look at by pretty much boring and rediculous to me. And Mother of Tears was awful. I didn't like that at all. Opera is the first one of his I've seen that I thought was decent. I guess I need to check out Deep Red and Tenebrae just to say I've seen them but so far I'm more of a Fulci fan than Argento. The Giallo genre is pretty rediculous with its crazy plot twists.
