Fantastic job. I like how streamlined it looks - which is especially cool because fleece is sort of tricky to work with. I enjoyed reading about your process too and you've definitely made leaps and bounds in progress from your first suit.
Honestly I like your version even better than the official one. I hope you continue to make costumes like this! ^_^b

I have actually started on a new suit, but it has been a bit trickier and I have no idea when that'll be finished. I'll make an update on it after I have made some more progress :D

I'm wondering, what materials did you use to get that cartoon look instead of the usual fur?

It's just fleece. Pretty hard to work with, I think a short pile fur would have been easier and looked just as well.
