Vlad recognized that heartbeat. He'd heard it as he came up the stairs, but had dismissed it as wishful thinking a figment of his imagination.
He was about to leave on rather important business. Noblesse Oblige. He didn't have the time or the energy or the inclination to rehash old, hurtful territory with Walter. Because, really, what else would they end up doing?
He should ignore the knocking. Walter might be stubborn, but even he would get the message. Eventually.
Vlad put his magazine down, got up, and opened the door.
Walter looked like he hadn't been sleeping lately.

He was so tired. Whatever Vlad's response to his proposal was, he had to sleep, but he couldn't do it until after he spoke to the vampire.
If Vlad would even let him in the door.
He steeled himself after the quick walk up to Vlad's flat and knocked.

Close door. Return to couch.
Vlad stepped back to give Walter room to step in and manouver around his suitcases.
