losing my edge is definately the best, uberironic take on people like himself(and, umm, me.) James Murphy says it's about kids like the Rapture and Black Dice, about how brilliant they are and how useless he is as an old record dork. Of course by making this record he's now a creator as well as collector? And how much do the kids learn from people like him? Or, hopefully, me? How dorky am I? There was no such thing as Detroit Techno in 1985. But that's neither here nor there. It's a masterpiece and it rocks the dancefloor. My favorite part is when he says "I heard you threw your guitars out and bought turntables" then whatever friend I'm playing it for says "that's so not the case" and I say wait...the next line is "I heard you threw your turntables out and bought guitars."

I also like the one that is something like "I heard you bought synthesizers and threw your computer out so you can make something authentic, like Yaz."

I'll see if I can get my hands on the lyrics.

yeah that song is super quote worthy. rory had that same turntable/ guitar lyric as the title for one of his stickerclub songs.

i don't think the lyrics are online yet but they should be. i'm also sorta curious what bands he starts screaming during that one supernamedrop part. in a lot of ways it reminds me of le tigre's hot topic.

the sonics! the sonics! THE SONICS!

I was wondering: what kind of paint do you use? Watercolor? Gouache? What kind is in the overheard conversation picture?
(Starting anchor bag tomorrow :), by the way).

i use gouache a lot but for the "panic" piece i used acrylic and then covered it with varnish to make it super shiny when i was done. i think i'm going to do that a lot more because it makes the colors pop when i'm done.
