October 24, 2009
This past week has been fraught with disaster and humiliation. The failure of the hunt for the Octava's monsters, then the normalcy of Kurosaki's gigai. That latter incident convinced me of my need to meditate upon my concerns and regain my balance.
Despite it being fall, the calligraphy room is pleasantly warm due to the use of the heater Hitsugaya-taichou gave. So for the past two evenings I have been practicing the large calligraphy. Although I wished to work on a more complex character, 氷 (ice) has been on my mind. Having studied it, I now revel in it's simplicity and meaning. To remember the basics is to have a solid foundation to build the more complex techniques on. The strides and pivots to write the calligraphy mirror the movements of basic Zanjutsu. The simple kanji is an imperative foundation upon which to form the more complex.
As I await the third misfortune I shall be as still as a frozen lake and remember the simplicity of ice.
