❀ 028 - Individual Thoughts

[Byakuya's private journal, the usual]

This weekend was far too eventful, and now it promises to get worse.

The Octava's death came as somewhat of a surprise. * I knew Renji - and others - deeply desired his destruction. Yet for him to connive and implement such a plan... Indeed, a great threat has been removed from among us.

I cannot, however, completely condone his action. Once again leaving behind the responsibly of his Captaincy, to the point of arranging with the Soutaichou his independence from the Gotei in the mission. How could Ukitake have gone along with this?

And not to mention Renji's lack of a plan to deal with the - what I believed to be inevitable - consequences. He was confident that no such repercussions would come, and he had indeed planned carefully. Yet they did. Even if no evidence is found, that will not stop Aizen. And he will not be interested in having only Renji shoulder the consequences of his actions.

Aizen knows the dangers of not allowing Shinigami to do their work freely. And yet he will close the Senkaimon 'indefinately'? He will destroy the worlds that he seems to want to rule. (...Truly, who knows what he truly wants.)

I anticipate Aizen's 'full disclosure' of his reasoning to close the Senkaimon and say Soul Society is in danger with some degree of anxiety. * Certainly, the Gotei is not ready for a battle against Aizen now.
I rather doubt that the death of the Octava will be the match, but it may well lead to something that will light the inevitable conflict between us.

I found that Kurosaki Ichigo had destroyed one of the Octava's personal and powerful monsters, and was gravely injured in the battle. I only needed one look at Rukia to know how gravely, despite the details that followed.

Damn the foolish boy for making her worry so. *

However this event only further confirms to me her attachment to him, loth as I am to accept it. The boy is not good for her, or the Kuchiki family.

At least Renji had had the good sense to not involve Rukia in his escapade.

No new developments have come forth from the Zanpakutou. The Houpakusaku is in safekeeping, and my training using yudou has been progressing well. I was going to begin training with the Reiryokukyuujun on the 24th - two months after beginning to use Unohana-taichou's recommendation - yet that will now be impossible unless the ban on the Senkaimon is lifted, or I shunpo into closer areas, which is quite risky now.

...

Damn, but I have a bad feeling about all this.

aizen, misfortune, fukutaichou-past, the proper thing to do, soutaichou, damn boy, artifact, plan would be good, octava, journal, wary, my pride, training, pensive
