wild arms wikiwikipediaPersonality: Marivel, to those who don't know her well, comes off as being a very pompous and bossy girl, who acts as if she holds herself in a higher regard than humans; in fact, she seems to have a low opinion of them, in general. This is somewhat true, as she's part of a long-lived vampire-like race known as the Crimson Nobles, who never really saw humans in a positive light. At the same time, however, there's more to the petite Crimson Noble than there seems.
Having lost everyone close to her in life, and being the last of her race, Marivel is in fact rather lonely, as being the last remaining immortal being means watching everyone grow old and die, while staying young, herself. This has caused her to close herself off from the world, in a sense, and to push away attempts at friendship, as, in essence, saying goodbye is depressing. Basically, she's afraid of making friends. This isn't to say that it's impossible to become her friend, of course, just that she's loath to accept someone as such.
If one has managed to earn her friendship, though, Marivel is actually fairly nice, for all her pompousness and loneliness, even if she might occasionally scold someone, or still boss them around. Despite everything that has happened to her, she resolves to live on, as she has decided that she wishes to protect Filgaia, making a promise with Ashley Winchester to fight alongside him when the time of promise comes, when Filgaia comes under threat once more. Humans may be mortal, and she'll continue to outlive them, but, in a funny way, Marivel wants to protect them regardless.
For the most part, she tends to be a fairly secluded person, though she can also be fairly nosy if something interests her or if she's, well, asked to be. With her knowledge of topics such as Filgaia's history, as well as the Lost Technology the Elw have left behind, she could also be said to be somewhat of a scholar, or even a mechanic, as she even upgrades Ashley's Map Scope at one point, and is the only one who knows how to treat Kanon's bionic implants. Of course, regardless of anything, as a 'behind the scenes ruler of all', Marivel likes to be vague and cryptic more than anything else.
Powers & Abilities: Marivel's knows a type of magic known as "Red Power", which works similarly to Final Fantasy's Blue Magic. By using Skill Drain, she's capable of learning a preset amount of magic spells from specific monsters, most of which is elemental in nature, but can also be used to cancel an opponent's next turn, put up an anti-magic force field, or seal an opponent's abilities, all temporarily. As an expert on the relics left behind by the Elw, Marivel is also capable of summoning stone golems, the most notable one being Asgard, though she is also capable of summoning two others.
Like most other playable characters in the Wild ARMs series, Marivel also possesses items called Tools, which are used to trigger switches to unlock certain areas, or to even summon monsters. Hers are known as Electel (a small device that emits an electrical shock, activating specially marked panels), My Mike (a microphone that summons demons), and Windup Key (a large wind up key that activates special blocks, which usually trigger switches or show a path)
What items will they be bringing with them? Hob and Nob, her protective costume for going outdoors, at least one of her Tools (Electel, probably) and the clothes on her back.
Third-Person Sample: She hadn't particularly been fond of that boy much when Anastasia first introduced him to her. "Oh, so you're a friend of Anastasia?" she had said, "A bit narrow-minded, I'd say. Are they really reliable? I guess it'll be okay. As long as you don't hold Anastasia back."
She'd been even less fond of him when Anastasia had told her Ashley's power was Lord Blazer himself. Someone who had Lord Blazer living within him? Even if it was true that he was not their Lord Blazer, but the one of the future, the fact that the Sword Magess was so trusting of him to take up Argetlahm and save Filgaia just...
Well, let it never be said that Marivel didn't trust Anastasia's judgement, anyway. It was just, well, Lord Blazer had killed her parents, and wiped out the rest of the Crimson Nobles in the process. To team up with someone who had the Blaze of Disaster living within him, well...it didn't settle well with the last remaining Crimson Noble.
But on the other hand, they both shared a common goal, to protect Filgaia, and, so, she had made a promise with him. When Lord Blazer once more came to threaten Filgaia, she would join forces with him, and fight alongside him, as she had Anastasia, to destroy Lord Blazer once and for all.
Ah, but that would be years from now, wouldn't it? Eons, maybe, even. A Crimson Noble's life was eternal; she would wait, possibly for thousands of years, for the day the seal broke, and Lord Blazer once again terrorized the planet. Until then, however, it was time to take a break, wasn't it? She was all alone now, and Lord Blazer was sealed away for the meantime, so there was nothing left to do but sleep, and hope that the time of promise would not come for a long time.
...Yes, that seemed like a good idea.
First-Person Sample: What sort of device is this? A piece of Elw technology...? But the landscape hardly resembles Filgaia, even the parts destroyed by Lord Blazer.
[The camera catches her looking fairly perplexed, as she examines the communicator, while taking a good look at her surroundings. The Elw were fairly advanced in what they knew, yes, but they also were attuned to nature, so...the possibility of this being the dimension they exiled themselves to was quickly ruled out of the question.
...This also didn't look like that place created from Anastasia's memories, that place beyond the event horizon.]
Yes? Hello? Is anyone there listening to this? Show yourselves, even. This is not Filgaia; I can tell that much. What business do you have by bringing me here? Do you not realize I have other matters to attend to?
