Let me just start by saying OMG Sherlock! I love this show sooooo much and Benedict is by far the best actor to play the Great Detective since Basil Rathbone!
So last night was the final episode over here in the US and boy did I cry. Not just because of the heart stopping roof top scene or John's heartfelt and tearful goodbye but because I realized that it's going to be another very long wait for the next series to air.
I absolutely adored the first series and the second was just as amazing if not better, especially the last episode. In the mean time I suppose I will have to fill my Sherlock void by continuing to reading the original stories (love them!), reruns, and Robert Downey Jr's version. (It might be far fetched but RDJ and Jude Law make a perfect Holmes and Watson for an action movie version of the characters. And I find the films amusing.)
Oh well there is one more thing- I just learned the CBS is creating their own Sherlock series to air in the fall. It's set in modern day New York with a British (thank god they did change that) Sherlock who is fresh outta drug rehab and a former consultant for Scotland Yard. Dr Joan Watson, that's right I said Joan, will be played by Lucy Lou. She is Sherlock's therapist and companion. I personally don't think this is going to do all that well since US version of great British things tend to last less than a season (with the exception of The Office, but even that's on its last legs I think). And the only reason they would have a female Watson is to eventually have them end up in bed together because that's just how American writers think that's what guy/girl partners should do. So I might give it a look when it comes out but I'm not impressed so far.
