Cross-posted here and thereYou know you have a problem with stasis when, after being in a city only two weeks, you’re already loath to leave your apartment. In my defense, my place here is twice the size of my San Francisco digs, and three munchkin cats live in its garden. I can keep myself occupied at home. I need to floss my teeth, for example. There was a Get-Your-Communist-Era-Foodstuffs-Here store close to the Dresden Semperoper. The near empty shelves were a nice touch. Hubby bought a case of some banana candy and OD'd on Ostalgie.

Hubby and I will be in Deutschland und Switzerland from mid-December to January-ish if you want to meet up someplace sometime.

Alas, I'm already on my way out of Deutschland. Wouldn't that have been fun, though? I'll be back sometime around March, though. *hint hint*

Maybe I'll move to the US so I can vote for Colberg.

Are you visiting Sydney yet? We have milk in our coffee any damned time we want!

Europeans supposedly say only Americans want milk in their coffee after 12 noon.

Ooh. Prague. I went there three times in the late 1980s (pre-wall coming down!) and have not been back since but I loved it so much that I learned Czech for a year at university. What you write is so interesting! Thanks for all the delectable detail.

Also, I lived in Berlin for 6 years so am looking greatly forward to posts from there! And I have an aunt in Dresden.

Ah, Central Europe...

I'm just leaving Berlin now, but I did post about it... sorta. I'm thinking of spending a few months here starting Feb. or March to finally nail the German language and just because... Berlin fascinates me. Where did you live?

Dresden felt beautiful and driven and haunted. But then, I'm a romantic tourist. I'm sure your aunt and other residents find it perfectly normal.
