Some thoughts typed one-handed while feeding Cady

I have but one New Year's resolution: to stop letting people who treat me badly bring me down. If someone speaks to me in a way I don't like, I may initially feel a twinge of anger, but from now on I will refuse to let it affect my overall mood. I allowed my New Year's Eve merriment last night to be seriously dampened by unpleasantness from a ( Read more... )

That diet sounds really healthy. I like the way you look at the abstinence of sweets from a spiritual and emotional perspective.
Personally, I have a HUGE problem with sugar. When I was pregnant my heavy sugar intake caused gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia.
It has been a hard thing for me to cut out the sweets but it's so much of a health issue at this point that it's just not an option.
Maybe a fresh perspective would help me too. :)

Yup, ice cream cravings were the worst for me when I was preggo. It got pretty bad and resulted in a tremendous weight gain which verged on unhealthy.

One thing to keep in mind if you ever decide to cut out sweets: if you can handle it for a few days you will begin to stop craving them. Seriously. When I had my first taste of holiday sweets after a long time of avoiding them I actually found them a bit yucky.

PS I like the stay at home mom icon. :)

Sorry drama is getting you down. I hope you weren't talking about me- I just want to make sure you know that we're cool. At least on my end. If I said or did anything to offend, please let me know.

You were definitely not one of the persons I was referring to. As far as I'm concerned you and I are the awesomest of friends, so no worries.

BTW, sorry I didn't call yesterday. Depressing birthday stuff was getting me down... just felt like hiding under the covers with Cady most of the day. It eventually turned out to be a pretty good day, though. Hope you had a good birthday of your own the day before! :)

Kickass.

I was wondering about you, but I figured with Cady teething it'd be best not to wake her.

We still need to do something for your birthday. This weekend wound up going quite a bit differently than I'd planned. I did get a new cell phone, though, so despite plans being shaken up it was alright.

Oh, and there was something else that helped...more about that later ;)

Yup... very soonly our holiday sweets will be gone and then I will also have to go back to eating better. Very interesting and thoughtful, your commentary on it; of course you are always sharing your lovely introspection. I can't say if I agree or not as I've never had the willpower to give up sweets, but I've found a 12-hour fast to have similar affects on the spirit.

You're awesome! :D

Going back to eating healthy post-holiday is proving even easier than I thought it would be. That combined with drinking lots of water and doing lots of yoga is helping Brook feel like a happy clear-headed girl once more!

Happy New Year to you, too! I'm sorry to hear about the people who soured your mood on New Year's Eve, but you're wise not to let their negative comments or attitudes affect your mood anymore. As one of Murphy's laws states, "By trying to please everybody, you will displease somebody." If that's the case with the people in question, their opinions should be inconsequential to you.

I'm glad I got to see and talk to you while I was in Tulsa. You're an awesome and loyal friend and I'm glad that you're a part of my life. I'll look forward to catching you on Skype so we can chat...and if all goes well, I'll see you in May. :)

Aw, no worries. Yeah, a couple of people pissed me off (one of whom you don't even really know, btw), but I know I take things way too seriously. I need to work on it, hence the aforementioned New Year's Res.

Yes, it was wonderful seeing you, too! I need to go buy a friggin' headset with some of my b-day money so we can chat more easily on Skype. Hope you're feeling OK now that you're back in Korea. :) *hug*

I'm doing pretty well and staying busy, but I'll be even better once I take a cue from you and stop worrying about things that I'm not able to change instantaneously.

Happy belated birthday! I meant to say so in my previous comment, but it slipped my mind. I'll look forward to talking to you on Skype in the future, with or without a headset. :)
