I am overjoyed that Obama won.
I'm wearing an American flag bandanna without a hint of irony, and a University of Chicago t-shirt with only the slightest hint, and my Thereminists for Obama button.
Obama has been taking the high road for a long time. Let's follow him up.
Let's not gloat. Let's not be divisive. Let's really come together to make the nation better.
Around 56 million people voted for McCain. They are part of America. They're not (all) stupid.
Of all the terrible things that Bush Jr. did, what offended me the most was that he acted, from day one, as though he had a giant mandate when he actually barely squeaked in. Obama did a lot more than just squeak in, but that's all the more reason to be gracious.
Oh, HOORAY. It really is a new day. The election is just the beginning. It's a sign, a message to each other and to the world. It's not just about having new people in the office. It's about saying "We're going to do things differently."
So exciting.
