Is this some kind of goddamn joke? Hauwsr DIED? There's no way! That guy could survive the end of the universe, just by scowling at it hard enough! Damn it ( Read more... )

...So I'm God now. Is that what you're telling me?

Why not? I've yet to see anything you can't do with that drill.

Just because I can do something doesn't mean I should. That's what I told the other me, and I stand by it. I can use Spiral Energy all I want, but what good would it do if I mess things up? The Spiral Nemesis can still happen.

Even if I could bring them back, I won't. Their time is up, and bringing them back would just be insulting their sacrifices. And the people who pass on...need to do so also to make room for the next generation. If we just keep preserving people, humanity will come to a halt.

But it's not fair, damn it! Good people keep dying, while assholes keep on living... what's the point of a world like that?!

Human lives aren't so simple to revive, dood...

Hauwsr was an amazing human, who died doing what he loved. I've no doubt his soul will make it through to the afterlife without conflict.

You weirdoes made it out just fine, didn't you?

Not at all, dood...if it weren't for the fact that prinnies aren't technically alive, I'm sure we'd be needless sacrifices.

Our curse is being undying...we still feel pain, regret, sorrow...unable to stop any of it, even if we wanted, dood.

What's the difference between being alive and dead, if you're still walking around and doing everything that people do when they're alive?

As great a man as Hauwsr was, going out of our way to revive the man... just feels wrong.

nobodyelsecan February 12 2011, 07:38:59 UTC
Why, though? Is a bad feeling enough reason to deny someone a second chance at life?

When they die on their own terms? Yes. They didn't ask you and they didn't sign a will requesting to come back if a method was found.

I respect the man enough to not play God with his state of existence.

Yeah, that's a good idea, Shinji. While we're at it, let's make it so no one can die or be apart from each other so we'll never be sad or lonely.

Look, all I'm saying is that if we have this kind of power, we should actually use it for something.

Power's well and good. Hell, I love power. But...think of all the people who deserve to be brought back from the dead. Not just from here...philosophers, artists, innocent victims, kids...our mothers...is it really right to drag them back? What about people like the comm--your dad? Who gets to pick who gets to come back?

Who gets to pick...

[Sigh.]

I hate this crap. I can't stand it.

If Simon revives our friends, then it would be only fair to revive everyone else who died, too. And... isn't that what was supposed to cause Spiral Nemesis in the first place? Abuse of power like that?

Shinji - you saved the world, pretty much single-handedly. You are a strong person. I know it hurts, but you will just have to endure it.

People like Simon are strong. He kicked the asses of more invincible monsters than I can count.

The best I ever did was deciding that sure, maybe being alive is better than the end of the world. I didn't do anything.

Don't be silly. Being inside the Instrumentality was incredibly pleasant. To throw that away and decide to live by yourself... you're strong. It takes more strength to do that than to defeat a thousand of invincible enemies.

I may only be a single soldier with a magic gun and a handful of spells, but for me you two are equally incredible.

It doesn't really feel like anything special. It feels like the bare minimum of being a functional human being. Survival's supposed to be an instinct.
