Haven't been updating here much. For one, facebook and it's stupid instant gratification has eaten my brains. For another, I'm not sure where my thoughts are at lately. I'm in the weird zone where everything external in my life is going really well, but I feel like a giant mess on the inside

Welcome back! I couldn't find you on Facebook using the name on your business card.

One of the advantages of working with a critique group (in some ways the biggest advantage for me) is that it gives me a deadline for things that are otherwise vague or nebulous. When I'm working on a novel I pledge to get a chapter done for each meeting (every 3 weeks), and I promise to buy the group members a beer if I don't. Really helps keep the long slog going! We have another member who's now doing the same thing.

Thanks David. I was working with another aspiring writer exchanging chapters of our works in progress for critique at the rate of a chapter a week, which was great motivation, however she got too busy with life and hasn't responded in a few weeks, so alas that situation fell apart.

I'm on the sff OWW, but responses to chapters are notoriously few. I figure I'll get the novel done and then see who I can bribe to read it for me :)
