so, appalled and traumatized by the dead baby albatrosses as the last personal straw for me, I'm going into overdrive to exclude day to day plastics from my lifestyle. Well, more than usual ( Read more... )

Poor birdies. Not that I didn't already know we were fucking up the planet.

I like those shampoo bars from LUSH. I have the little can. But I left it at the cottage. =.= I need to get another one.

solid shampoo was a little hard to wrap my head around (har har) but I am now an official convert.

next step, of course, making my own like a Big Nerd.

I wonder if there's a Lush in London... Maybe?

... Ooh, there is ! I had no idea they had such products. I never go in, because the scent melange makes my eyes water, but I hatehatehate all the plastics in my life.

Unfortunately, I looked at their packaging free deodorant and it's not gonna do it for me. I sweat profusely (TMI, I know) so these won't do me much good. Sad. I will, however, look into this shampoo business. I look forward to a complete review on how well the product works. ;)

With the amount of hair that I have, one shampoo bar (which costs anywhere between $8 and $11) lasts me 6 months.

Yes, I have trouble with them, too. It's the main reason I don't use their products.

definitely en masse it is a little much, but having two or three things at home is perfect. I suggest going with a head cold, as I did. Mutes things down to a reasonable level. :)

Wow - those photos are impressive and disturbing. I've seen some of that artist's work before, when I was working at Gallery 44, and a lot of it deals with documenting the destructive impacts of consumer society. Take a look through some of the other series on the site if you want to be further traumatized ( ... )

That was actually what really threw me over the edge was that I *recognised* the items that had killed them. They could've been mine.

Apparently only 24% of the 6-point-something billion POUNDS of plastic soda bottles produced each year get recycled. The rest? Albatross bait, or the equivalent.

thank you, but my steel canteen and I will be over here, thanks.
