Pairing: Main Pairing: KyuMin,

Summary: Kyuhyun realized the dreams he's been having was because of the object in their attic. Will he do something about it?
Kyuhyun kept thinking about the mannequin he saw at the attic.
As he lied down in bed and stared at the ceiling, he was trying to remember how it looked like the person in his dream. The hair, the eyes, the smile from those lips…for some reason, it all gave him a comforting feeling.
[Why does that person look like the person I saw in my dream? Is he trying to send me a signal? Was the tale a real story…?]
Then he chuckled. He realized he’s just tired that he’s been thinking absurd things. He has to stop thinking about these silly thoughts about that mannequin. He changed his position to his side and closed his eyes for the night.
-------------------
The moon shone brightly that night, so bright it went through the dirty windows that Kyuhyun had opened that morning in the attic.
Here I am again, standing by the darkness
Wishing I can walk to the window to see how beautiful the moon shines tonight,
I want to feel its light shine upon me,
When will this despair be over?
When will I get the chance to end all this?
[Soon…]
Huh?
Suddenly he felt a chilling sensation run through his body.
What the-?
He blinked.
His eyes suddenly widened upon the realization that he can move his gaze. Then he started to hear the ticking of the grandfather clock and how loud each second passed by. He felt his fingers move and his legs felt wobbly. He tried to keep his balance but he felt so weak he fell to the floor with his arms protecting his face.
“Owww-“ Once he spoke, he coughed loudly for his throat felt so dry and- “I can talk?!”
He held his neck in surprise. He suddenly felt how warm his skin is.
“What’s happening?”
He tried to stand up from the floor but was having a hard time moving. His body felt so weak so he tried to sit up instead. When he saw that he can stretch his legs, he smiled so happily to see them moving. He placed his hand on the window for support and slowly stood up. It was hard but he was able to do it. Then he saw that in front of him was a full length mirror. The moonlight was now falling on him and so he saw the person in the mirror looking at him. He touched his hair and the guy in the mirror did the same. He smiled and the guy in the mirror did the same thing again.
“I-I’m human again?”
He took a deep breath, closed his eyes and made use of his other senses.
He can hear the ticking sound of the clock, how cold the temperature felt around the room and then suddenly, the floorboard creaked. He immediately opened his eyes and looked where the sound came from.
His eyes widened upon seeing someone standing at the other end of the room.
He suddenly felt emotions rush over him that the ticking sound of the clock was immediately replaced by the beating of his heart.
His heart.
He looked down and touched his chest and felt how it beat.
Then he felt the other person moving closer to him…
“Are you okay?”
-------------------
Kyuhyun suddenly woke up in the middle of the night.
He dreamed about the mannequin again. It was the same dream. So similar that he felt that fuzzy feeling again, like he was in love with that person.
After 30 minutes of changing positions, he finally accepted that he can’t fall back to sleep. He sighed as he decided it would be best to get a warm glass of milk to calm his nerves. As he gently closed the door of his door behind him, he suddenly heard something fall down and the sound came from the far side of the house.
[The attic?]
He thought that it could only be a rat but as he went down the stairs, he can’t shake off the feeling that he should take a look. After giving up to his mind’s whims, he turned around and walked his way to the top floor.
He walked slowly as the only light around the house was the moonlight coming in from the windows.
When he got to the door to enter the attic, he gently turned the knob and peeked.
His eyes widened as he saw someone near the window, trying so hard to stand up. He watched how the person held on to the window for support. He seemed so weak and pale. Then he saw that person smile at the mirror in front of him.
[Who is he?]
Kyuhyun’s heart was beating fast. He tried to move away but his slipper made the floor creak.
Suddenly, he and the person near the window looked at each other. Seeing that person’s face, he looked familiar. Then Kyuhyun got confused as the person standing across him looked down and placed his hand on his left chest.
[What’s happening, is he feeling sick?]
“Are you okay?” Kyuhyun asked.
The other guy stared at Kyuhyun like he just discovered something wonderful.
“My heart… I-It’s beating again.”
-------------------
Kyuhyun observed the person sitting across him. This person seemed so happy to touch the warm mug and drink the tea he prepared. It was just a while ago that this guy was having a hard time talking because his throat was so dry.
“Thank you so much for this nice tea.”
“What’s your name?” Kyuhyun asked curiously as he sat on the floor near the window, closer to the person he just met.
“Oh, I’m sorry. My name is Lee Sungmin,” he held out a hand, “Thank you so much for helping me.”
Kyuhyun find it surprising but he shook hands with Sungmin anyway.
“As I have heard yesterday, your name is Kyuhyun right?”
Kyuhyun nodded quietly. Then he opened his lips to say something but he stopped right before the words came out. He felt like it would sound silly to say it out loud. Then he looked at where he found the mannequin yesterday. He saw that the figure wasn’t there.
“Yes, I am the mannequin.”
“H-how did it happen? Are you really...but…how..?”
“I am not certain as well on how I became human again.”
“Human again?”
“I was cursed.”
“So you’re really a human?”
Sungmin nodded.
“Huh.”
Kyuhyun folded his arms as he let the thought linger.
“You know… I dreamed about you.”
“You did…?”
Kyuhyun was surprised by Sungmin’s facial expression he can’t stop staring. Sungmin has already turned into a human and yet he still looks almost perfect.
“May I ask what year is it now?”
“2011.”
“Come again?!”
“W-why?”
Sungmin suddenly lost his focus.
“H-hey… Are you okay?”
“The year I used to live in was 1830.”
They were both speechless for a while. Kyuhyun still can’t help but stare at Sungmin’s adorable yet confused face.
“I knew it had been long but I didn’t know it would take this long.”
“Can I touch you..?” Kyuhyun suddenly blurted.
“Pardon?”
“I just want to see if you’re real.”
[What a lame excuse Kyuhyun, you already shook hands with him…]
[Shuuuuut uuuuuuuup]
“A-alright…”
And Kyuhyun stretched out his hand to touch Sungmin’s cheek, once he felt how soft it was, he stared at Sungmin’s eyes…
“You’re beautiful.”
And for the first time after almost two centuries, Sungmin blushed.
“Your cheeks are red!”
“I-it is not!”
Sungmin immediately his cheeks covered it with his hands.
“Sorry to tease you,” Kyuhyun chuckled, “Drink your tea, before it gets cold.”
Sungmin smiled shyly and nodded.
“How old were you before you were cursed?”
“21.”
All of a sudden, the mug Sungmin was holding fell on the floor.
“H-hyung?”
The color from Sungmin’s eyes suddenly became lifeless and he leaned sideways. When he hit the floor, he was back to being a mannequin.
Kyuhyun hurriedly moved to Sungmin’s side and touched his cheeks. He felt his hyung was still a bit warm. But the way his hyung lied on the floor, his skin, his hair… everything was back to being a wood. Kyuhyun realized the moon stopped shining and that the light that had started to come in was from the sunrise.
[Does this mean…?]
-----------------
Kyuhyun tried to stay in the attic for another 30 minutes but Sungmin just lied there, lifeless. He looked around and decided to do something. He carried Sungmin’s mannequin body to where it used to stand and then he went downstairs and changed into his day’s clothes. Then he went to the kitchen and saw Ryeowook there.
“Hyung, can I ask where the cleaning supplies are?”
“Why?”
“I thought I would clean up the attic.”
Ryeowook helped him carry the cleaning equipments upstairs.
“Are you sure you don’t need my help?”
“I’ll be fine.”
“Oh, you need this.”
Ryeowook gave him a dust mask.
“It’s dusty up here, don’t tire yourself out.”
“Thank you, hyung.”
Kyuhyun wore the apron and the mask then walked to the window to open them up. It was stuck at first but he used all his might until it opened. He saw that the view from up there was wonderful. He can see most of the garden down below and the wind coming in felt really fresh. He swept the dusty floor, cleaned the windows till they were squeaky and arranged the boxes properly. When he carried a box to move it on the other side of the room, it gave out thus the contents fell on the floor.
“Oh crap!”
He kneeled on the floor and saw the papers that fell were parchments that had drawings on them. Every word was written in calligraphy and then there was this big paper, like a map that has an illustration of constellations inside a globe.
“Kyuhyun…?”
Kyuhyun immediately arranged the papers and brought them to the nearest old dresser to hide them.
“You’ve been here for hours now maybe yo-wow…”
Ryeowook was surprised at how clean everything looked.
“You did all this?”
Kyuhyun nodded.
“I think you should stop now, I don’t think the doctor would like that you’re tiring yourself out…”
“Its okay hyung, he did advice me to have some exercise and well, this has been it.”
Ryeowook walked around and saw the mannequin standing at the end of the room.
“He looks pretty, isn’t it?”
“He is…” Kyuhyun agreed.
“Maybe we should replace his clothes, he’s been wearing this for years and it’s really dusty.”
---------------------
After Kyuhyun had finished cleaning, he ate lunch around the afternoon, took a shower then immediately fell asleep. When night came and everyone was asleep, he went upstairs to check on the attic.
When the grandfather clock at 12, it played an tune. But Kyuhyun didn’t care about that. He stood in front of Sungmin, whom he had moved near the window, and waited for him to come to life.
Lo and behold, Sungmin didn’t fail him.
Kyuhyun never took his eyes away from the figure in front of him that slowly, changed to become human again. Sungmin’s hard surface started to soften, his molded hair gently fell down on his eyes, then the moon light reflected on his eyes as he blinked. Sungmin’s chest rose up a little to take in some air and suddenly he wobbled as his knees felt weak again. Kyuhyun immediately held his hyung’s arm and waist to balance him.
Sungmin’s curvy lips formed a little smile.
“I’m sorry, I am still getting used to this.”
Kyuhyun only smiled back.
“Do you want some tea?”
“It’s okay, thank you so much for being so nice.”
Sungmin was so happy that Kyuhyun was there.
“Why did you clean this?”
Kyuhyun rubbed the back of his neck as he answered.
“I just thought you might like it better.”
“Oh…” Sungmin chuckled, “By the way, thank you, really, for moving me near the window, it’s nice that I am able to watch things even if I am in that form.”
Kyuhyun looked away to hide his embarrassment. He’s not used to people thanking him.
“I have been wanting to ask you something.”
“Hm? What is it?”
Sungmin replied as he waited for Kyuhyun to talk again.
“How can the curse be broken?”
