Chapter 1: Call of Destiny Chapter 2: Notion Chapter 3: Rite of Springs Chapter 4: Jump into the Fog
Sungmin, Siwon, Yesung and Shindong all brought their own sport cars to the venue of the party.
Once the valet had taken their keys, they all looked at one another and went in one by one. The people instantly noticed them once they have entered the place. Not because of their class status or anything like that, as much as possible, they’re very low profiled. It’s just that the way they strode inside the art gallery was classy. While wearing their fine-tailored suits, the girls and other guys were all bewitched by how great they looked.
But they were thankful that this private party only invited all the high profiled society members… which somehow make them not to be the most noticeable people there.
Slowly, they dispersed inside the Roman gallery.
Shindong walked around the place, trying to look at the sculptures and paintings, opening his ears about what the guests were saying.
Siwon then started using his acting skills and started mingling with the ladies.
Yesung opened his eyes and observed every crack, every texture and every color of the building. He’s trying to investigate how it was built, what materials were used and how everything was positioned. Finally he saw this one corner where people don’t seem to bother going to. He immediately went there to hide from the crowd.
Sungmin pushed back the glasses he was wearing. He hated these kinds of events. He hated all the people that were there. Those fake smiles, the sparking jewelries brought from money those ladies didn’t even earn one bit; he hated how superficial these kind of parties always turn out to be. Everyone is just present to brag their position that was given to them and takes advantage of it.
But he has to be here. He has to know how the place moves with his own eyes so he can predict when something can happen and also know how to make it happen.
As he tried to take in the feel of the shallow performance every socially prominent person there, he looked at the art pieces displayed around the area. And then there was this painting that made his heart quiver. On the painting, there was a boy who was sitting on a cliff, his legs dangling by the edge, looking at the moonlit sky while small silhouettes surrounded him. He pushed back his glasses and tried to squint to define what those small silhouettes were.
“Those are black cats.”
Sungmin only blinked when someone talked behind him. He turned his head and looked where the voice came from. There he saw a guy who was a bit taller than him and was smiling. The guy’s face looked serene and happy.
“Those are black cats, surrounding the boy. It’s like they’re protecting him.”
Sungmin looked back at the painting and his jaw tightened.
[Who made this painting?]
“Champagne?” a waiter offered and they took one each.
“Don’t you hate these parties?”
“Excuse me?” [Is he trying to stand out by being different?] Sungmin thought.
“Everyone’s acting like they know all the art pieces, acting like the society cannot live without them and acting like they own everything. In the end it’s all just one fucked up system, don’t you think?” The guy smiled before he took a small sip.
“I assume you own this gallery?” Sungmin smiled back.
“Oh, sorry, let me introduce myself. My name’s Han Dae,” he offered his hand.
“Vincent Su,” Sungmin received the handshake as he used the fake family name the public had known them as.
“And no, I am not the owner. It’s just that most of these art pieces have been taken care of by my family and we thought, hey, let’s make a fund raising event.”
[So he knows the enemy…?] “You own this painting?”
“Yes. It was made by one of our ancestors. The title is ‘Illumination’”
“Kind of ironic isn’t it? I mean, the painting’s almost black except for the light of the moon.”
“Exactly but even so, even if the kid was almost in darkness, it doesn’t mean he’s alone.”
“Someone’s watching?”
“The moon’s with him and those cats...”
“Oh, yeah yeah,”
The painting was making Sungmin lose his composure.
“You know, if you’re interested, there’s a special party happening right now.”
“There is?” Sungmin asked.
“I take it that it’s your first time in here?”
“It kind of is.”
Dae then started walking and Sungmin followed. They turned left by the end of the dim lit hall and realized there was an elevator there. After a few seconds, it made a ringing sound and the elevator doors opened. They went in and Sungmin saw there were 4 buttons. Dae pressed the B.
As the elevator went down, Sungmin heard a high pitched noise after the elevator had passed one floor down.
“What’s that sound?” Sungmin asked.
“They said you can hear a sound when you pass the magnet.”
“Magnet?”
“Yeah, I heard it’s to block out devices.”
“Oh... how clever.” [It really damn is] Sungmin thought as he looked at the wristwatch Kyuhyun gave them.
Ding!
The elevator doors opened and there was a hallway. At the end of it was a big red door. They walked until they reached it. Dae knocked twice on the door. Soon enough it opened and let the sound from the inside came out. As they went in, it only looked like an ordinary elite party club, a very wide party club. The walls and almost all the surfaces were made from shiny black glass. Then the bar was in contrast. Everything about it was white.
“What will you have?” Dae asked.
“A wine will be fine.”
Sungmin leaned at the bar and secretly looked at his wristwatch. It really stopped moving. Then he looked at the crowd dancing in the middle. He saw Siwon surrounded by girls. Then Shindong was at the other bar at the side of the club.
He really hoped the guys left at the mansion wouldn’t worry too much.
“Here’s your wine,” Dae smiled.
“Thank you.”
“The place looks nice doesn’t it?”
“More like sophisticated,” Sungmin nodded.
As he raised his glass to drink his wine, he saw the ceiling was also made of glass. But not like the shiny black kind that surrounds them. It was a transparent one and above it that was where the stones seemed to float on air.

Ryeowook opened the door for Kyuhyun and the others followed.
Kyuhyun sat at the head of the table and opened his laptop. Then he tapped the surface of the table near him. A small square opened where he placed his hand inside it to get a cord that he can connect to his computer. Everyone was watching what he was doing. Then they realized Kyuhyun was trying to get into the main computer. Once it was cleared, the other members can see what Kyuhyun was doing on the main screen. He then logged into a website to get a signal from the satellite and watch the place from the screen.
“Did he just log into NASA’s website?” Hyukjae whispered to Donghae.
“I did,” Kyuhyun answered as his fingers won’t stop clacking on his keyboard. It seems like he was using all that he can to track the guys who went out for the mission.
Kyuhyun kept on restarting and restarting the program he made to track the devices he used for his team. But after 10 minutes, the only ones blinking were the ones who were in the mansion with him.
--
They immediately went the venue and parked 50 meters away.
Everything looked fine. The museum where the party was held looked normal on the outside. Kyuhyun smirked to himself. The guy who planned this was a clever one. He kept the stones on a busy location so any kind of operations would be seen by the people around. The enemy can easily track if something’s going on
Kyuhyun dreaded the fact that they can’t go in.
---
Yesung who was busy going around the place had finally checked the floors, the hidden floors and the secret rooms around the area by sneaking into the ventilation system. [Which was a big pain but someone has to do it -Yesung]
Then finally, he saw no one’s around the lavatory so he opened the lid and jumped down. He immediately patted down his suit to get the dirt off before anyone came in. As he washed his hands, he remembered going through a part where there isn’t any ventilation at all.
After wiping his hands, he opened the door to enter the “club part” of the museum.
He walked coolly around the place, smiling to people that he pass by, as he observed. Then he saw the ceiling which surprised him too. This made him smirk which was a sign that he was finished detailing the museum’s blueprint into his mind. He looked to find Shindong who gave him a slight nod.
Shindong then walked into the dance floor and started dancing. Then he slightly pushed this guy and made it spill his drink to the other guest…which created a fight in mere seconds. Yesung, Shindong and Siwon was able to sneak out but Sungmin who was at the bar at the end of the club got a bit trapped.
Yesung went back to the party place and nodded at Shindong, who nodded to Siwon and nodded to Sungmin. These arrogant rich men who won’t allow losing to the other men won’t stop making a scene at the middle that he can’t go out.
---
Kyuhyun was relieved to see that his laptop had regained the 3 blinking lights.
[Wait, 3?]
Kyuhyun’s heart sank when the info told him that Sungmin was the one missing.
---
“Kyuhyun you can’t go in even if you wear a mask in there,” Ryeowook said as he blocked the door of the Hummer, “Guys! Help me out here!”
“I’ll go, you guys stay here” Hyukjae said as he stepped down from the driver’s seat.
30 minutes later, Hyukjae and Sungmin arrived at the SUV.
“Hae-ah, can you please drive for them? I have to drive Sungmin’s sports car.”
“Why, what happened?” Donghae asked.
“I broke my glasses and the contacts I’m wearing are only half the grade of my eyes…” Sungmin smiled weakly, “I’m sorry.”
Kyuhyun was worried as he heard all this. But he waited patiently till Donghae and Hyukjae talked first outside. Ryeowook checked up on Sungmin and then decided he will come home with Yesung’s car instead. When Sungmin stepped into the SUV, they were the only ones there.
“Are you okay?” Kyuhyun immediately asked.
“I’m fine, thanks.”
Kyuhyun noticed the broken glass that Sungmin’s holding in his hands. He took a handkerchief from his pocket and took the glasses from his hyung’s hand.
“Don’t hold on to it tightly, you might cut your hand.”
Then Kyuhyun wrapped the glasses using his handkerchief. Sungmin was surprised but he only smiled.
“I’m sorry, I just thought wearing glasses could make my look a bit different for this mission so I only wore half the grade for my contacts and used real graded glasses.”
“Don’t worry its okay.”
But Kyuhyun really felt bad the glasses broke. He really liked how Sungmin looked while wearing those glasses tonight.
---
Ryeowook stepped into Yesung’s parked car and saw his hyung was drawing on a small piece of paper.
“What are you doing?”
“Oh Wook... Just making some marks about the map for the museum. I have to jot it down immediately or else I might forget them.”
“Ah…”
“Sorry, I’ll do this fast and we’ll go home soon.”
“It’s okay.”
“It’s just you know, this is really fun…I never dreamed I would be able to use my talent in a very fun way,” Yesung smiled widely as he drew on the paper on top of the steering wheel.
Ryeowook loved these moments, especially when Yesung’s eyes sparks up as he talks about his passion.
---
Next day, they had the meeting at the basement as the 4 members who went on a mission discussed what they discovered to the rest of the team. Siwon and Shindong discussed the history of the museum while Yesung provided the blue prints.
“The whole place is kind of tricky. Even if the museum looked a bit old on the outside, the inside is a different story. It’s like they renovated the whole interior and added floors underground. In fact, it’s so tricky that I think everyone would need to undergo training on how we would attempt to break into the place.”
“As for me, I would still have to learn more about the place and so far, I finally got one connection to someone who may help find out the answers we need,” Sungmin shared.
“Who is he?” Kyuhyun asked.
Sungmin took a calling card from his pocket and pushed it to let it slide and reach the end of the table.
“His name is Han Dae, I am still researching on him and his family. From the last time we talked, he said his family owned the art displays presented yesterday at the museum. I was thinking maybe he knows Kim Kibum.”
---
After a full day of work, Kyuhyun leaned on his high chair and sighed.
“Good work today, Kyuhyun” Sungmin said as he arranged the papers his dongsaeng has just signed for the company, “I’ll just tell Ryeowook to have the dinner prepared soon.”
“Ah hyung, please hold on.”
“Hm?”
Kyuhyun opened the side drawer of his table and took out a leather case.
“Here’s something for you.”
“What is it?”
“Open it.”
Sungmin slowly opened the black case and saw it was newly made glasses. As he took a look at it, he realized something was engraved at the side of the temple part of the glasses.
Min
“Thank you!” and Sungmin hugged Kyuhyun which took his dongsaeng by surprise. But in the end Kyuhyun just smiled and hugged back.
