As I said in my previous post to the community, last weekend I made an excursion to Hogwarts to reminisce with Professor Binns. The professor was kind enough to relate a fascinating tale or two to me. I cannot understand how he finds the time to prepare lesson plans; surely he is kept busy each day, what with the evident demand upon his time. I am certain that he spends each day enriching others with his vast knowledge. I can only hope that when I pass on, I shall be as posthumously intelligent as he.
According to Professor Binns, the three prime wandcores used here in England bear great significance upon the limitations of our magical stimuli and abilities. Of course, this is something I was already aware of. As Mr Ollivander has oft professed, the wand chooses the wizard. I believe that each wandcore is symbolic of the power encompassed within both the wand and the wizard. As we all know, Mr Ollivander himself uses dragon heartstring, ash, ten and a quarter inches. Obviously, Mr Ollivander is quite perceptive; could, perhaps, his wand reflect this in some way?
It is an interesting theory to tamper with amongst free time. Many great wizards in history have had the phoenix feather as their wandcore. It is suspected that Headmaster Dumbledore himself has a phoenix feather at the core of his wand. However, this is merely speculation. The literal truth is likely something only that Mr Ollivander and Dumbledore himself know.
My personal wand is phoenix feather, maple, seven and a half inches. I cannot help but wonder if my wandcore signfies that I may go on to do more great things with my life. I, of course, am rather humbled to have such a powerful wandcore.
Here's a rather amusing story, on the subject: One day over tea, Miss Clearwater and I were discussing wands and wandcores. I happened to casually mention that mine was a phoenix feather, which prompted her to reveal that she, also, used a phoenix feather. My curiosity getting the better of me, I asked to see her wand. Of course, I had seen it many times before, but now my interest had peaked. I was surprised to find that not only does Miss Clearwater use a phoenix feather wand, but hers is also maple and seven and a half inches.
Of course, it is not the same phoenix. Nonetheless, it is rather uncanny.
All theories aside, I am a man of science and logic. While I find theorising a good way to spend the afternoon, I do not have time to dawdle upon theories with little basis of fact. I prefer my knowledge to be acquired via information with concrete background information.
As an aside, to my brother Ronald: I could not help but notice that you and Harry snuck out of Hogwarts to go to a Quidditch match this weekend. I am afraid I am rather ashamed of you. I would have hoped that you would have thought better about keeping your friend out of jeopardy. Mother and Father are thoroughly disappointed as well, Ronald. Mother is considering sending a Howler, and I feel it's in her right. You should not have been so thoughtless.
And to Professor Sirius Black: I apologise, on behalf of my younger brother, for allowing your godson's safety to be put into question. It was thoughtless, and I am rather sure that my brother will accept any punishment you feel is appropriate.
