"It's very considerate of you to wake me up at 2 in the morning, Jinri"

"It's very considerate of you to wake me up at 2 in the morning, Jinri"

"I can't sleep" she hisses.

"So?" Taemin asks, rubbing his temple. It's late, and he's only got 2 hours of sleep himself. Dancing practice always go until late at night, and sleep is something that he's been waiting for all the way home but this is Jinri and he has to pick up her call even when he's only got a minute of sleep. Just because.

"So you have to accompany me," she answers briefly, more of an order than a request, fast and demanding.

Taemin sighs, but he knows it's better to just say yes than arguing. "To where? Han river?" He can hear her scoff at the other end of the line.

"Cliche, as expected from you"

"People often do that at night." Taemin countered.

"A nice cup of coffee will do. Meet me at the usual place in 5 minutes."

"But coffee will only make it harder to slee..." Taemin realized that she hung up the phone already. Sighing, he reached for his hoodie and tied his sneakers neatly before heading out, making almost no sound for the fear of waking up the others. It's July and it should be summer already, but the breeze made him shudder and he wrapped his arm around his body, walking faster to the place where Jinri made him go to in the dead of night.

Jinri was already there when he arrived with eyes fixed on the window, though he wonders what she's staring at for the night is dark and silent.

"Hey," he greeted, sliding to the seat across her.

"Took you long enough," she said, and called for the waiter, ordering a cup of coffee and tea for them.

The table was silent for a while. The waiter came quickly, bringing their order and Jinri reached for her coffee almost instantly, sipping it.

"Careful, it's still hot," Taemin pointed out.

Jinri sneered at him. "Thank you for stating the obvious," she said, and took another sip quickly just to annoy him. But
Taemin was in no mood to argue any further so he sighed and stayed still, eyeing her.

"Drink your tea, it's on me," she said.

Taemin didn't budge, and opted for staring at her instead.

Minutes past filled with Jinri fiddling with her sweater pretending not to notice and Taemin staring at her, making her feel like she's stripped naked and shy and insecure.

"You're being a jerk right now," Jinri whined, cleary irritated and this is what Taemin wants. For her to show him more than just one emotion all the time. For her to show him more than just the cold, bratty Jinri or smiley, adorable Sulli. For her to show him the combination of both and melting the constant facade that makes her what she is right now.

"What is it?" He asks finally, leaning forward with eyes that never leaves her.

"Nothing. Drink your tea."

"Jinri, it's the second time you called me in the middle of night this week."

"It doesn't mean there's something going on."

"But there's something right now."

"And why would you say that?"

"Your eyes. You never look at me even once since I came here."
Jinri has noticed, that Taemin is an observer. He knows every detail and knows when things are out of place, even the smallest, most possible one. She still won't admit that this is the reason she called him from the first place though. Because he will know there's something off and he will ask, and the way Taemin tries to pry away those information from her makes her want to give up and spill it in the end. Well, not without a bit of a fight before though.

"I'm looking at you now," Jinri answered as she turned her head fast, looking at him straight in his eyes.

Silence filled not just the table, but also the room and Jinri could feel how his eyes bore into hers.
Time that feels like hours when it's only minutes breaks her. "Fine you win," she sighed, sipping her coffee again.
Taemin smiled triumphantly.

"Stop smiling like an idiot" Jinri snapped, still bitter from (what she thought as) losing.

"Something wrong with the new role you've gotten, I presume?" And it hits her that he understood all along. That it's useless to keep up the constant bitchface when he's around, because he knows her. He understand.

"Should I assume that you knew because Minho told you that?"

"He didn't have to. I saw his expression when he got back from the script-reading and now I'm looking at yours, it's not really hard to add two and two together,"

"Soojung's furious" Jinri bit her bottom lip.

"I'm sure she's not."

"She hasn't talked to me for days since I got the role!"

"She'll get over it," Taemin said, sipping on his still hot tea.

The table got silent and Sulli eyed Taemin nervously from the corner of her eyes. What about you.

"It's a role Jinri. You're going out there, and you're going to act, remarkably wonderful I hope at that, and you will kiss him as Goo Jae Hee and you will fall for him. Not as Choi Jinri, or even Choi Sulli for that matter."

"It's still him at the end of the day,"

"And I don't see the problem in that. I'm sure Soojung and Minho has kissed lots of times that the one you're going to have with him barely counts," Taemin looked at her and they giggled after a heartbeat of silence.

Sulli took a big gulp of her coffee as he continued, "Just imagine him as a guy you have a crush on." Taemin continued.

"Or you could imagine Minho as me." Jinri's glad that she has swallowed her coffee, or else it'd surely made her choke.

"What? but.. Yes but I mean... No! Eh... What do you mean..." Jinri struggled to form a response, words failing her tongue.

Taemin smiled and Jinri could feel her cheeks burn and pictured her face turning scarlet, it is not that hard to imagine.

He put some amount of change on the table and pulled her hand into his, guiding her outside the cozy cafe that has always been their (secret) meeting place.

"Uhm... Where are we going?" Jinri asked awkwardly as Taemin signaled her to turn to a different road. He abruptly stopped and turned to face her. Jinri's tall for a girl, but he towered in front of her and Jinri just felt small and vulnerable.

He held her face softly between his palm as he bent down, and Jinri could swear that the streetlights were dimming as she closed her eyes and tilt her head to the right, feeling his lips on hers for the very first time.

It was the longest five seconds Jinri has ever felt in her entire life and when he pulled back slowly, she went wide-eyed and gasped for breath immediately. His smile after didn't help her heartbeat to slow down, because it has only made it worse.

"And that, is what you're going to picture when you have to kiss Minho," he chuckled and tucked a strand of Jinri's hair behind her ear. "I'll walk you home," he said and they walked, side-by-side, all the way back to her dorms before parting with another peck on the lips.
