Back in 1987 my Dad had a request for me. He wanted me to paint a picture for him. He wanted a painting of an old tobacco barn. There were not many of the old barns left. New machinery and buildings took the place of those. What ones were left were abandoned and left to slowly decay in the heat and humidity.

I did keep it. I brought them both home. Jay is taking the ND Sunset picture to work with him and hanging it in his office. The Barn will go in our upstairs hallway. Every time I look at that painting, it reminds me of my dad.

And I read Harry Potter and sketched most of the day yesterday. YAYY. It was decadent but I enjoyed every minute.

That must bite. Big time. I know where you're coming from here. I'm never good enough either.
I hope you have kept the paintings yourself then. Hang them somewhere perhaps - and when you look at them remember how your DAD loved them.
Maybe your mother just isn't big into sentimentality. Me ... I can't bring myself to throw away Liam's bits of butcher's paper from preschool *sigh*.
