Self-disclosure is a huge barrier in picking up information in a public space. A friendly non-judgmental space was created at this event and the hand outs are so important.

I struggle with self-disclosure for my grant at school all the time. We could help many many more students - but no one is going to walk up to a table with their friends and admit they are on food stamps. I am trying to get insinuated into the financial aid world so our material can be available in a "funding" venue. I've made inroads with internal referrals...

so I really appreciate what you all are doing to reach a population that otherwise might remain in the shadows.

We have to remove societal and personal shame over things that are so often beyond our control. Needing help - there should be no shame in that.

That's great! A friend of mine is in that show and sadly, I don't think the stars are going to align to let me see him in it. But I'm glad you're making those strides. I've spoken about it in my own lj before, and I think this is an incredibly important issue. Kudos to you both!
