Oh, the weather outside ain't frightful...

...even though every stinkin' weather forecaster and reporting venue said it would be. Good grief, we got about 3-4 inches of snow before Thanksgiving when the doomsday weather forecasters were trying their best to whip us all into a weather-fearing frenzy. It's all but melted now, too.

Here's a link to my latest Home Solutions blog post. I hope y ( Read more... )

Pulmonary edema is consistent with a diagnosis of congestive heart failure (just so you know.) I assume yr Dad takes Lasix or some other diuretic. He needs to be careful about his salt and fluid intake too.

they doubled his diuretic meds. I know the two can go hand in hand, so the question is, why didn't anyone listen to him when he complained and catch it before it got so bad? The doctor said it would've taken at least a month to build up to this volume, which is exactly how long he's been feeling tired. They've had him on a limited fluid intake regimen for some time now. I'm anxious to hear what his primary dr. says today.

Real answer? They didn't listen to him because it was a holiday weekend and he's 92 years old, which means he's not a high priority.

It always makes me laugh when Republicans fume about Obamacare and rationing. Don't get me wrong -- there are plenty of reasons to hate Obamacare -- but a more transparent system for rationing health care is not one of them.

Health care rationing takes place right now! Doctors and nurses make decisions about which patients they deem priorities and which they do not, and act accordingly.

That's worrisome news about your dad, Jamie. Please tell him Sherry and I are sending him "get well" thoughts.

I will, thanks. They had their physicals today, and - knock on wood - both got good reports. They're having some blood work done, and Dad goes back to see the cardiologist and pulmonary dr. on Thursday.

So pleased to see that your Father is dong better now.

On the stuffed crust pizza...
I've never made it, but when I've had it the cheese in the crust was more like a mozzarella
I'm thinking to make it like you said... and then slice string mozzarella cheese the long way...
and roll over the extra crust...
At least that is what I'd do. Hope you have good luck with this project.

I found a recipe online that said to use string cheese, so that's what I bought. I'll let you know how it turns out tomorrow!

Good luck with your goals for 2014. Sounds like you have made progress this year.

Glad that your Dad is feeling better. I have had experience with my mother's dr did not listen to her. It didn't end well.
Interesting article hope your Dad gets a medal, thank him for his service.

Wow, when you post, you post! All in all things sound good. Glad about your dad.

I'll bet you found you knew more than that business coach to start with.

Haha - it was a brain dump for sure, Joebanks. I'll tell you why the business coach and I didn't do well together - she's part of a group of coaches and online business people who continually promote one another, and they all have the same approach to business - it's all about money (not necessarily a bad thing) but the advice was, triple my prices, come up with "catchy names" for bundled services and charge a ton more money, automate and standardize everything rather than customize my services to meet each individual client's needs, stuff that would completely undermine the reputation of trust that I've worked 8 years to build. I think I can grow my business my way, or find my way to a coach who works the way I do, by customizing services to meet MY needs. She says the problem with me is that I'm resistant to change. Some change, yeah. But not all...
