Also set in the comics world, but also not requiring much more than knowledge that Spike has been gone and there is reason to worry he may be dust. There's a bit of two steps forward, one back, before he and Buffy get on the same page, but it quickly becomes a happier holiday for them both. This one is PG13 at worst.

PS: I'm still a bit sad about Sebastian (and the other bugs) too.

I was sad about Sebastian too! Thanks. The later comics allowed so much more room for Spuffy twists.
