The Patriot Act has me absolutely terrified! As far as Terry Schaivo goes that's horribly sad. I wouldn't let a DOG starve to death, much less a human being. It's cruel and inhumane, and personally I think her husband might've had something to do with her being in the vegetative state that she is in now. I mean just look at how she was. She was beautiful and healthy...Something just isn't right here. Also, why wait 15 years to do this?? This is an outrage!

Well, he hasn't waited fifteen years - he's been fighting her parents in court for eight years to do it. It doesn't seem unreasonable to think that it would take seven years for him to a) exhaust all possible hope that she could recover - try every possible therapy, etc... and b) come to terms with the loss of hope and the loss of his wife.

I haven't seen any evidence for the accusations that he abused her or caused her present state. Yes, she was beautiful before, but she was also bulimic.

As for the starvation thing - it does *sound* cruel, but in her state, I doubt she feels anything. If, on the off chance that she does, the medication they'll give her will take care of that. It wouldn't be necessary, if euthanasia weren't illegal. I think that allowing her to continue on in her present condition is far more cruel, in any case.

Also, even if the decision to remove the feeding tube was the wrong decision, it isn't something the Federal government has ANY business becoming involved in.
