There are some great films here!
Here are some I would short list for you.

His Girl Friday 1940- screwball comedy classic. I love Cary Grant!
Fire Over England 1937- not my thing, but if you like war movies....
Mr Deeds Goes to Town- wonderful!
Mutiny on the Bounty 1935- must see. Gable and Laughton at their best.
Double Indemnity 1944- Classic thriller.
North By Northwest 1959- iconic Hitchcock
Roman Holiday 1953- charming. Hepburn is so sweet in this film.
Shot in the Dark 1964- the first Pink Panther film. Hysterical!
Some Like it Hot 1959 Sexual farce. Fun with Marylin Munroe.
The Gay Divorcee 1934 -A light musical. I think it is the first pairing of Astaire and Rogers.
Viva Las Vegas 1964- The best of the Elvis film, but still an Elvis film...
To Kill a Mockingbird. One of my all time favorite films!

I almost forgot Gaslight, the '44 version. Angela Lansbury won an Oscar in her first film role. Bergman is beautifully fragile.

I second Gaslight, Roman Holiday, Some Like it Hot, and To Kill a Mockingbird.

I also suggest Casablanca, An Affair to Remember, Gone With the Wind (if you have a lot of time), How to Marry a Millionaire, My Fair Lady, Barefoot Contessa, Psycho, and Private Life H. VIII. Among many others not on that list. ;-) Enjoy!
