About that DC trip...

Not gonna happen. I might get to go at some point in the future, but the DC work trip has been put on hold, if not canceled outright.

The powers that be realized that spending thousands of dollars on a touch-screen timeclock ate into the travel budget?

Well, the client would have paid for the expenses associated with going to DC, so no travel budget. Rather things changed in the case and there's no need to send us now.

And one of my co-workers reads my LJ...and somehow I'm sure the expression "touch-screen timeclock" is going to rear its head at some point.
