Character's Name: Adeline March
Series: "The Thirteenth Tale", a novel written by Diane Setterfield.
Timeline: Right in the middle of the chapter "The Experiment", just before Hester and Doctor Maudsley separate Emmeline and Adeline.
Personality: Adeline is the daughter of Isabelle Angelfield and Roland March and the twin sister of Emmeline March.
There is a saying, a belief, that twins inherit two different parts or personalities that make a human being whole. They fill up the holes that make one of them incomplete, thus creating a balance in two physically identical forms. To say that Adeline March is the incarnation of untamed and unexplainable brutality and eccentricity is an understatement. While her sister is passive and quiet, a heavy eater, plump and healthy, Adeline acts as the foil in the worst way possible. She is violent and abuses those around her (including her sister) for the pure sake of entertaining her desires. She starves herself for days until food is literally forced down her throat--and even in that state, Adeline still manages to find a source of strength to fight back. Emmeline is clean and likes shiny things (in more ways than one) while Adeline thrives in dirt and grime (or maybe refuses to care) and puts up a fight if told to take a bath. She does not speak in English or French, or any other language regular people know. Adeline speaks in a tongue foreign to all, but native to her twin. She is impulsive, yet still very wily and curious about things that are outside of 'her world'. The world where only she and Emmeline exist.
If the twins were compared to the yin-yang symbol, obviously, Adeline is the pure representation of the black swirl that circles with the white.
What your character can offer: Adeline is not adept at anything physical, and magic does not exist in her world, so she can't offer any abilities to fight with any style or class. If her mechanism is triggered, however, she can summon a sort of strength from within her to resist whatever it is she does not want to do. She can't offer much but her strangeness and impassive stares--and maybe silence, since her other half is not there with her.
What items will they be bringing with them? The clothes on her back.
