I really did miss the 'monster of the week' feeling that the show had the first few seasons

I agree. The last few season's have been great but Dean said it best when he said something about it being about time they went after a cut and dry monster.

I was glad that it was addressed in the show with Dean saying that. It's nice to know they keep that in mind still, even with all the other plots they have going on.
