I'm still reeling from the sense of connection and "family" that I felt. I spent a lot of time internally singing and crying because it was such a powerful event... so much advice... so much authenticity.

Much as your experience with Lady D, I was able to connect with Viola Johnson and was deeply, powerfully, moved.

Yes I've sent you an invitation to discuss BDSM & racism, but we can also meet to revisit the impact(s) from attending BlackBEAT.

hi, i recently added you and found this post really interesting. I've thought about attending BlackBeat a few times in the past but wasn't ready to do it, for various reasons. Good to hear that it was so welcoming. Must feel good to be surrounded by people who are into BDSm and look like you.

not only looked like, but acted like. Learned black folks BDSM can be substantially different than... One quote that stood out for me was: "Folks tend to do the superficial. This lifestyle is about *play*, but you don't have to play at it." Another idea was: If you dom isn't treating you right, you may think they misheard you the first time... maybe they misunderstood you the second time... but their damn sure better not be a third time. You can't get blood from a muppet. You can't expect people to give you what they don't have." So much. Soon, I'm going to type and post on my page all the notes I took. Peace.
