First Wedding Venue to Check Out

Dec 21, 2010 20:00

Christopher has booked a weekend for the first wedding venue we want to go look at (given that we've already seen the Townhouse and I've been to Urquhart Castle) so in January we're doing a two night stay at Atholl Palace, a converted victorian mannor house in Pitlochry. Pitlochry is about 2 hours away by train and everytime we've ridden past we've ( Read more... )

Shawn and I stayed in Pitlochry last time we were in Scotland. It was a very beautiful town.

I would love to be able to say I could come, but truthfully it would be very unlikely that I would. Of course if I win the lottery between now and then I'd love to get an invitation ;-)

Heh. Believe me, I understand that one. We would like to have a reception in California for the friends and family who can't fly to Scotland whenever we want them to (and, of course, the ones who can) but every time I even think in that direction my brain shuts down and all I get is "Lalala... lalala... lalala..."

oh, gods, no. We wouldn't even look at reception planning until we have all the outlines for our wedding firmly in place and then most likely all we'll do is look.

Congratulations!,

um, if invited, I would love to come to your wedding. Finances are iffy right now, so let me know the date and I will see what I can do regarding a flight and very budget minded place to sleep. Financially, it's not too likely, but I'd love to know the date and run the numbers just in case there is some way to do it.

We're looking at about 60 guests which is pretty much just family. When we have a date and venue we'll be able to get a better idea of how many friends we can invite.

I'm with Chris, would make a real effort to come if invited - and I've always wanted to take Jeff to see the UK, because he's never been.

It's an intensive task, the wedding planning, but joyous. Remember the joyous when you get stressed out with the little to-do lists. (and grab the boy and go someplace quiet to hold hands and remember what it's all about... it's about being married to this man. The ceremony is just the gate to the long and beautiful path through the garden.)
